The prophecy doesn't say anything about the Dark Lord being the only one able to defeat Harry, rather than the other way around. Try again.

Right, well, perhaps if you interpret it literally and without the explanatory clause, but I can't say I like the plot device anyways. There was never any indication in canon that Harry was invincible by any other hand than Voldemort's, while the reverse seemed to be true, if only through circumstances.

    iow: It's Rowling's fault.

A prophecy isn't a magical contract. It doesn't legislate the future (i.e. force the future to happen in a certain way) - it predicts it. The only way it can create events is by people reacting in certain ways to hearing the prophesy.

If events happen in a way other than the prophecy outlines then it was simply a bad prophecy.

Dumbledore heavily implies that the prophecy isn't binding, and mentions that other prophecies in the past have been false. Rather, it simply caused Voldemort to act in certain ways, and Harry - because of the nature of his character - responds. The prophecy doesn't force Harry and Voldemort to go at each other the way they do - they choose to. Had Harry been different, he could have run, prophecy be damned. But he chose to stay.

    What Taure said, and this:

This cannot be interpreted literally, only metaphorically. If both Harry and Voldemort decided to stay away from each other forever, would Harry also become immortal through the force of the prophecy? Somehow I don't think so.

And yet, all of that means nothing with regards to this fic.

You're judging his statement by canon when the rules of the fic he was commenting on are different. In the fic, it DOES legislate the future. They specifically talk about lethal curses bending away from Voldemort and miraculously missing him when they should kill him (as he has no horcruxes). They refer to the prophecy "shielding" Voldemort from lethal curses coming from anyone but Harry.

He's right, in the fic the only person that should have been able to murder Harry is Voldemort.

Rusty is right, the fic is pretty interesting but the Harry/Draco interaction is really weird. I have a bias towards AU travel fics, and so far I tentatively like this one. It could end up being really good, but I see it as being equally likely to spiral into shit. I've been let down by so many fics like it in the past.

Only 3 chapters so far, and I've only read the first, but its definitely interesting. Not the typical post-OOTP angstfest, I thought it was done quiet well. And there is Moody. Who is awesome.
and living inside the same trunk he was held captive in, in Harry's room.
There's a bit of plot mystery from the very beginning which makes it an interesting read, imo.

Just finished reading all three chapters (may not seem like a lot, but they are 10k words each, and I have shit to do.) And I do like where this story is going. Nothing is quite as it seems, and the character interactions are pretty good for the most part (some iffy Harry/Snape, but I've seen a lot worse).

I think this story shows that it is still possible to make an interesting post OotP fic, and have some neat ideas. Moody is great in this, as is Luna. I think in a few more chapters this story could probably get into the library easily, provided it doesn't get retarded (always a possibility).

Wait, when you say 'Harry/Snape', you're not talking about either slash or some shitty Severitus direction, right?

No slash, and no Severitus. There's a scene where Harry calls him out on his faults, and some talk about Oclcumency and weird visions Harry's been having. There has not been any romantic inclination towards anyone at all, but I would bet on Harry/Luna 100k words down the line.

Yo I heard you like Harry/Lily : Make a Wish Break a Heart
I must confess: I only read the first chapter because this kind of story is not exactly my taste, but it was, for the lack of better words: politically correct. Enjoy or not.

I'd almost recommend that story be immediately placed in our trash bin.

But I wouldn't, because it's not that good.

Death Shall Have No Dominion is actually fairly decent... I'll be keeping an eye on it.

Chapter 4 is up, and I can't decide if I like the fic anymore. I had trouble finishing the chapter actually. While I do think there is a lot more than meets the eye, some of the possible neat ideas have not turned out as cool as I thought they would.
I'm indifferent to the clandestine, blackops, DoM. I severely dislike overuse of memory charms, because it tends to make the whole society implausible, but it's working out alright in this story so far.

I don't really like the path that the author put Harry on. The whole wandless magic bit and seer (wtf? really?) bit isn't doing it for me. I hope those weird fire things that were happening to him is something a lot cooler than being a seer, and hopefully the word phoenix never gets involved with it. But wandless magic bugs me when the author implements it like it is here. He starts saying stuff like 'oh, Dumbledore can't even manage a wandless summoning charm like that' and people become super impressed over something so trivial.

There is a line that bothers me as well: Remus was silent for a long time, finally starting again, "As long as you don't turn into Trelawney." I don't know why Lupin would say this, he's probably never even met her.

But there is reason to keep following this story, because there are some interesting plot twists. Supposedly Harry made a prophecy about himself 80 years before he was born, and there's a mysterious person who walked around Hogwarts and talked to Malfoy (could have been an unspeakable who talked to Dumbledore) but theres still a lot up in the air.

    And Moody is a Boss.

I'd say that unless something remarkable happens, this story will probably have a home in the recycling bin and nothing more. A shame really because it started out cool, but I don't like the cliche route that is being taken to create a super!Harry. I think the author has the bigger picture, but I feel like whatever the grand reveal is, its going to be underwhelming.

It also had one of my biggest pet peeve contrivances of all time, and thats making random historic figures into squibs for no reason other than to have a one liner, or to show that muggles can't do jack shit on their own so they must know about magic.
