Reading it makes me sad though. What happened to Apex and Ouroboros? They stopped updating suddenly.

I've been looking at new Worm threads on SB, but the new stories are pretty average so far. Nothing I'd recommend here.

Finally got around to reading these two. Both very interesting.

Straight Edge was a really interesting crossover. Initially, the concept of a "mages vs capes" fic didn't draw me in at all. But unlike most FSN/FZ crossovers, that's not what it's about at all.

Straight Edge makes really uses the reader's knowledge of the events and characters of Fate Zero to pique their interest by alluding to a different sort of events.

Within the first chapter all kinds of things are mentioned, through PRT knowledge banks, such as:

Caster summoning Cthulu drew capes into the battle, thinking it was another Endbringer. Maiya triggered. Kotomine Kirei is now working for the Protectorate. Gilgamesh is in the S9.

You really want to learn about these past events and characters. What, why, how? But these are shown through little snippets; peripherals to the main story, which is about Shirou (one who hasn't experienced a Holy Grail War) and Taylor. While Shirou is probably a bit too powerful, it still has that feel of pre-Leviathan Worm - not too epic or over the top yet.

It is also the first Worm fic I've read that really gives life to the ABB. A large number of them, including Oni Lee, are real characters and not just faceless villains. Their plot is a lot more complex and interesting than it is in most fanfics.

Looking forward to this fic with much interest.

Agent of Cauldron was a bit refreshing, being wholly new content and exploring very different parts of the Worm. I especially enjoyed the start - seeing the various groups around the world react to Eidolon's death.

Copacetic updated recently, which was kind of fun.

The President is cool, and despite being a cheesy scene, I really didn't mind it too much. The only thing I didn't like was when he implied that if Taylor did go Warlord, he'd try to appease her. Even if that was his plan, it seems silly to encourage her.

How I Learned to Stop Hating and Love the Bomb That is Nero remains really fun, driven almost purely off Nero's absolutely amazing narrative, since not a whole lot has really happened in the story. Almost every paragraph is golden.

 

Makes me sad too. I especially loved Ouroboros.

Cenotaph and Wake remain the only good completed worm fanfics, which is kinda sad. Most fics lose their steam midway through the story, and are ultimately abandoned.

Edit : Agent of Cauldron is very good. It hasn't updated in the last couple of days though, which makes me nervous that it is abandoned as well.

 

Probably because most fics only use a different power as the divergence point and don't really think though what happens after that.

So, a new "exalted" cross... or so it claims because no exalted elements have been sighted at all.

That said, for want of a nail situation where Taylor does NOT trigger in the locker... and things go tits up for certain bullies. :3

 

PL has really started to ruin my day with his new fic, and the FFN reviewers seem to piss me off more, he murders 50 people for no reason and he misunderstands Canon so bad it's funny. Just to let you know he makes an AU where Cauldron was never formed because Eden is still alive, yet there's a fucking Protectorate, and Nilbog, a cape is in charge of the local Protectorate even though he did murder all those people like he did in Canon, I'm tired of his shit

 

The good news is you don't have to read it.

I'm personally looking forward to the rationalist worm fic that will eventually come, should be a good laugh.

 

An easy way to get the same experience is to just read his author notes at the end of a chapter and because I am a glutton for punishment, I did just that.

And I regret it like wow, that hurt. A lot.

Don't do it. He is the Donald Trump of fanfiction, only it's not funny. It just makes you livid.

Perfect Lionheart, he made a Worm/SI over on ffnet. Peoples dramatics over on SB/SV about it are very amusing.

 

I'd say annoying, as in the number of times he gets brought up is so damn annoying.

I used to be annoyed until I decided to think everyone who keeps bringing him up actually admires him so now I am just amused.

So, Memories of Iron updated. Notable since it's been inactive for very nearly a year. Can't say it's exactly my cup of tea, but there are worse tinker!Taylor stories out there. Plus it's always nice to see a fic come back to life, especially in the graveyard of unfinished ideas that is worm fanfiction. Kudos to the author for jumping back in.

 

Memories of Iron should have stayed abandoned. At this point, Taylor is so overpowered it isn't even funny. The story had the phenomenal ability to be abandoned just before you realized she soloed an endbringer before the main plot, and there is nothing but curb stomping in the future.

 

Biigoh, it is impressive on how fast that story just exploded. The author seems to have gone for one of the biggest red herrings, by making all the earlier chapters pointless and comical to read.

 

Yeah, that was weird. It's like the author just abruptly changed their mind on what story they wanted to write.

 

To be honest... I have given up on the story...

Thus far before I stopped reading, this happened..

Taylor did not trigger in her locker
- was stabbed and left for dead in the woods by Sophia Hess
- was rescued by the Undersiders
- was hospitalized
- got a "get well" card from Sophia Hess with no signature
- met up with Tattletale, who provided some info on stuff and tasers. She was with her dad.
Bitch got killed by the ABB fight with Lung
The Undersiders retaliate and killed Lung by using Hijack's power to control an ABB ganger, picked out by Lisa, tinker explosive was used.
Oni Lee goes on rampage, and starts killing school girls.
Taylor witnessed her neighbour being burgled, calls cops, one of the burglers got caught, other ran off
Her house is set on fire
Her dad is in a coma from smoke inhalation
She asks Lisa over phone who was responsible for the fire, was told "Merchants"
She goes off to buy a gun
Ends up attempting to buy it from the merchant/burglar who IDs her as the "snitch" somehow in a sting operation, is kidnapped and drugged
And then given to Oni Lee whose working for/with the Merchants... or something.
Oni Lee goes and starts hunting Taylor in a specific set pattern that Taylor recognizes and is KOed by a counter-attack...

Bii throws paws up and says "fuck it, I'm out"...

And apparantly, Taylor shortly after that gets a solar exaltation that is damaged and is likely to be bad for her... yeah... no.
