I really liked this. It's unique and is just short enough to leave me wanting more.

Emma seems to have it all planned out but she's right in that eventually Taylor will leave them and there's no substitute for her physical contact. After that, not even Emma's sanity will be left intact.

The only way any of them could get out of the situation (besides Foil killing them) is if one of them triggers with a bud from Taylor. But even then it'd have to be a power that would break the new cape out of the loop immediately before their brain is reset.
Either way, the story is like something out of Worm. No solutions, and sometimes you have to make good out of an awful situation.

Damn, that was fantastic. Such a good premise. Thinker6 has been consistently excellent with the stuff he writes. I wonder if it could be expanded, though.

Heavy stuff, but excellent. I always thought Gray Boy's power was one of, if not the most gruesome power in Worm.

Path To Victory is a HP crossover that has Snape trigger with Contessa's shard. Yes, he is as overpowered as you think and can be a Gary Sue. Snape discovering that not every single problem can be fixed with his power has been enjoyable though. Solid time waster and a fast update rate too. I think the thread was started a week ago and it already has 16 parts at around 1.5k words each.

Sounds absolutely fucking terrible. The only satisfactory story with that premise is:

"How do I get to be with Lily Potter for the rest of my life?" -> Brews & Drinks Draught of Living Death because it'll only ever happen in your dreams. Snape dies, the end.

Off topic question for Worm fan fiction writers and readers: Do you feel interest for this fandom is big enough on DLP to warrant its own section like Dresden WBA? Is there a barrier to people posting their stories at DLP?

Just noticed some writers posting outside links to their stories here, which is ok, but I would rather make them comfortable enough to post here as well.

Please comment, and if this derails too much I will make a different thread and point everyone there. Wanted to post the question here because you all are a captive audience.

Speaking for myself, my interest in Worm is definitely here to stay, have been reading fanfiction for it for two years now and I would love for it to have a bigger presence on DLP. The biggest problem is though, the fandom itself is small. Ff.net has 307 stories currently, the rest being on spacebattles.

But who knows, if we have a section dedicated to it, DLP might draw in more readers and writers. I'm for it, but I am not sure it will pay off. Then again, I do hope that once Worm gets published, general interest in it will grow and with it fanfiction readers and writers. So, optimistically yes?

Nemrut hit the nail on the head. Worm is popular on DLP, but going by the Worm thread it doesn't seem popular enough to warrant its own section. I also don't see DLP pulling many people away from SB or SV either. That may change, but right now there doesn't seem to be a reason to expand except to prepare for the, hopefully, eventual influx of new members once Worm is published.

I think the Misc WBA section works fine for now. I think it's a good idea to give Worm its own section in the Other Fandoms Library, but I don't think the DLP fanbase is large enough to warrant a whole new WBA division. Our current Misc WBA has all of one Worm fic on the first page.

I'm actually working on a rough idea for a worm fanfiction at the moment and was debating whether to put it in the misc. Wba. I read worm a while back but I didn't read the fanfic till just before this summer when I found Sufficient Velocity thanks to Hash's ADOTN. Practically every story that's going up there is worm and there's so much energy and so many people putting fics up that I forget how small the fandom is.

I don't know how that'd translate to DLP. A quick look at the first two pages of the wba shows three fics with only one of them with posts in the double digits and that's notes'.

I trust the criticism and the experience here at DLP but I'm not sure there's the interest to really get the same sort of level of input that you get if you put up a work in a HP or other popular fandom.

At the moment, I'm not sure if there's enough to warrant its own section but you've gotta' think we'd get more worm fictions in here if we had a worm sub-board.

I think there are probably some other things that need to be done before it get's its own WBA. I agree with Moridin that this should get its own section in the library. There is clearly enough support for it. But I also think you ought to first kill this thread (and others like it) the same way we got rid of the Almost Recommended thread. We need to be using the library and review boards more. Little threads about obscure fandoms are great, but once they have hung around for a couple years and several hundred posts the discussion should be pushed onto a review board, by mods if need be.

I'm not entirely sure of the state of the fandom here.

Of course, I think that it might also be possible that people are a bit more fearful of the more critical DLP crowd compared to the hug-boxing (and I'm not saying that's the norm, but it can seem like that if people just hit like and don't comment anything that bothered them), on ff.net/SB/SV.

Is it possible to just open one for a month or two to see if there will be an influx? We all know how bad of a feeling it is when your work is critizized, and there's a lot of shitty fanfics on SB/SV/QQ that I'm sure would be ripped to shreds around here. If anything, a trial period for a board wouldn't be too bad just to see the reception.

Been glad of the criticism here. Different places, different audiences, different emphases... different lessons.

Personally, tend to criticize in PMs and/or when invited — but that's the old 'praise in public, critique in private' ethos.

Not sure how the shift to a review board would work, do get the sense that it would structurally change the discussions. How?

Not confident that there'd be an influx of writing here if doors opened for a specific section. Maybe? Best bet would have been when SB was about to split into SB/SV. Do think that there are decent odds of the fandom expanding when Worm is published, but that could be months or years out.

Worm definitely deserves its own section in the Other Fandoms library, but I don't think it's big enough here to have a WbA section. I really doubt people on SB/SV are going to move over here, especially when most of them don't even post their stuff to FFN/AO3.

Frankly, my question wasn't to imply 'what should I do to bring people over from SB/SV?' It's more of "how to cater to the members already here?"

Take Dresden as an example. When first it started getting big we (ok, mostly Jon and Co.) created a Dresden Files focused forum. The admins here realized that it was of a lot of interest to this community and asked if we wanted to just have a section here. We did and now there's a Dresden section.

We could have a Worm For Review in the Misc subsection. Misc WBA can continue serving Worm as it does other fandoms. When I see so many pages in the thread for a fandom, I feel that it deserves some attention.
notes, that ethos is classy but as you see we have it out in the open in DLP. I hope that hasn't turned you off.

I can see a few arguments for yes and no. Having it in Misc makes it slightly more likely that people who wouldn't normally read a Worm fic might take a chance and read one because its in a subforum they normally read. But, on the other side, having it in its own subforum might be a reminder to some that the story still exists and has a large world to work with, etc.

Personally, I don't see a downside to Worm having its own section, even if only 1 story is posted there a month. Sure, the mods will have an extra semi-inactive subforum to mod, but we've got like 400 mods now so that's not really an issue I think.

The narcissist in me recognizes that having its own subforum might bring in all the crap from the other sites such as the ridiculous amount of dumb altpower!Taylor fics, but I find the idea of such an influx of authors to be entertaining, and perhaps if one new author out of ten happens to be good, then I'd think it would be worth it.
