The author stated, at some point in an AN, that Taylor would have powers. There was some sort of poll to see if people wanted her to have new powers. The plan could have been changed, but she probably will have powers. We'll likely find out right away if she has powers, since Dany senses other capes.

 

So just a heads up for those following any of the Worm fics on spacebattles. You may want to make a copy of the fic for future reading. They're in the middle of a slow death from critical hardware failure and the odds of a fix are not great.

 

I just started it and I kinda can't get past the fact that Tattletale turned to someone like Danny for help and so soon. What the fuck is he going to do? Coil can break him with a word. It seems like an excuse to bring in canon characters.

EDIT: If I may rant a moment, Worm has a few unfortunate stations of canon and Coil is probably one of the worst "fixed" facts about the series when it comes to being dealt with.

Also, a hint: if you're going to back stuff up you could use the Wayback Machine, which would give everyone access unless SBnet fuck with their settings or someone. Better for all involved. I've done Weaver Nine and a few others but I'm probably forgetting some. It's an incredibly easy process too.

 

I've been getting error messages from them, so using Wayback is the only way to save anything at this point.

I'm reading Incarnation but I find it difficult to find it plausible. The writing seems...off, especially the way the QA talks about Armsmaster.

As I understand the basic premise is the QA got sent back right? But it's behavior seems completely at odds with what we were told about the shards through Tattletale and Simurgh, the way they acted or reacted.

And then there's just the "authenticity" feel. That is nebulous but the writing (see the Armsmaster bullshit) just comes off as...odd.

Arrogant chump is used twice in place of Armsmaster. And then it's used again. I don't really get why "Queen" is dragging Taylor around, it's not raising the stakes and the shard shouldn't care about pre-trigger Taylor.
And somehow the heroes know within a couple of hours that someone dangerous is in Brockton Bay. Even if a hero was sent back in time, at this point is seems like a contrived reason to have Taylor grab Vista.
Still better than most.

That is the stupidest excuse/plot device in the Worm fandom. Ever.

 

Not actually that stupid.That is actually canon. The stupid bit is how both Contessa and the Simurgh keep getting nerfed by fic writers. You have to actively work to make them unsuccessful, either by authorial fiat or being a giant, multi-dimension spanning spaceworm.

With the powers we've seen from Cauldron finding a powerful threat is really not something that's obviously impossible.

Also: Liaison updated on Sufficient Velocity. Taylor's powers are hilarious. Tattletale is weird. Will follow.

Taylor triggered with the ability to see connections between people, joins the Wards.

 

Liaison is a bit hit and miss. Taylor triggers with powers that allow her to visualise the relationship connections between people and their feelings toward one another.

After Taylor triggers she immediately goes to the PRT to check if her powers are real [or imagined] and joins the Wards. She learns that she can also boost one parahuman at a time, ala providing a temporary second trigger.

Coil bails out of BB because he doesn't want his operation exposed. Tt has the Undersiders allow themselves to be captured. It all feels a bit too much.

 

Coil, like with The Simurgh and Contessa is another victim of fanfic writers' unwillingness or inability to deal with him. Weaver Nine is the one fic that I felt had it's cake and ate it too-they stopped the shit about him that people hated, but did it in a fitting and awesome way.

Tt's plan makes sense in theory. Something about it just seems off. As for Coil running...yeah, convenient but possible I suppose given how fuck off awesome Taylor's power is.

 

I enjoyed Liaison. It avoided the usual terribleness that happens when Taylor joins the Wards, namely dealing with Sophia in a heavy handed way. But all the problems are being dealt with pretty easily, as is common with spacebattles. Telling Panacea what to do so she has a better life, Coil failing in all his plans. I can only imagine what happens when Eidolon shows up and his problems are immediately solved.
