Most likely Cenotaph. It still has flaws, and its sequel isn't as strong, but it's still the best work I've seen the fandom produce. As mentioned above, it's complete (although even its sequel leaves ample room to explore), which I haven't seen any other Worm fics reach.

Carnage may be the best written Worm fic, but its first arc is hard to live up to. Plus it's been dead for three months.

I love Weaver Nine, but its main character turns some people off, while its heavy exposition chapters will turn off others. It also shares Carnage's problem of being dead for three months.

From there, you have to dive into your own personal tastes, because everything else is closer to Almost Rec'd than the library. I have several other Worm stories I follow, but most are either dead in an annoyingly incomplete state or not worth recommending.

The CW boards don't show it as much, but it's still there from time to time. I generally just browse SB for stories though, as there's hardly anything on SV that isn't mirrored there

Just found a new one that's pretty good:

    Atonement

Basic premise is that Taylor dies in the locker and after being threatened and beaten by Sophia, Madison triggers. She's the main character, and despite my normal hatred of anything not Taylor centric, it's pulled off really well.

Also, this portrayal of Coil is one of the best I've ever seen. There're a lot of stories where he's just an ineffectual imbecile who is treated as an after though at best. Here, he seems to be the main villain and is a ruthless, highly successful monster.

Atonement is quite good but you have to understand one fundamental thing about this:

It is not, really, a Worm story. It is closer to being a Spider-Man story, especially with how much that has influenced this story, what with Madison snarking at villains and making jokes and all.

It is not completely without its Worm-moments though, but it has a very different feel to it. That said, it is well written and the snarky dialog is better than in any Spider-Man comic I've read. Laughed a lot while reading this and it is immensely enjoyable to see Madison do her thing.

Well, I had a look at all the recommended fics and the only one I enjoyed was Zennith.

I did enjoy that quite a lot though, pity it's by Ryuugi. Probably won't be updated ever again. :(

Aw now, no need for you to start on that as well Innomine. It's annoying enough to see it whenever Ryuugi posts anything on SB/SV.

I'm generally just happy to have something good to read when Ryuugi posts.

If you only enjoyed Zennith, you're pretty much SOL because it's one of a kind in the Worm fandom. You might enjoy Ryuugi's new story if you haven't already seen it.

    Which is that?

Edit: Oh, it's not wormverse. :( I was excited for a second there.

An Amy centric story, things go differently in the Slaughterhouse 9 fight.
Basically she starts her own group together with Taylor and Lisa among others.

Go gently recently updated, not as good as used to be, but still a fairly decent read for me.

I just finished reading Weaver Nine and it was fucking fantastic.

Are there any other good villain Taylor fics out there? And I mean the really ruthless villain of Weaver Nine, not the relatively tame villain of canon (although I would probably settle for the latter as well). There are way too many hero Taylor fics out there, and I disliked Taylor joining the heroes even in canon.

When you get canon Tayour described as 'relatively tame' you know you did something right.

I started reading this and I must put down one major criticism
Are they seriously working with Bonesaw? That is simultaneously the strangest and dumbest thing ever, for all sorts of practical and character reasons.

Bonesaw is Nine. She tortured Grue and sent Amy down a fucked up spiral. And, in this timeline, they don't even know or care about the Jack Slash mindwhammy. How did she get on the team?

I know, we're TOLD what the two of them decided but this is not the sort of thing you skip. This has to be dealt with. You can't just have Panacea and Skitter defend Bonesaw while Tattletale takes the role of the audience and doesn't even do a good job of arguing for the most common path.

It makes it seem as if the writer is more interested in having the awesome munchkins of fanon come together than actually telling us the character's motivations. I could save the same about Skitter and Panacea teaming up but that's not even on the same level.

Hopefully this will be dealt with later but it's really setting off alarm bells.

Atonement is actually great. Saw a Madison centric fic and passed it by for ages, before thinking 'fuck it' and gave it a go. Whoever described it as like Spiderman was spot on. Really entertaining read.

So Atonement updated again (that's a seriously awesome update rate), but I can't help but feel a really interesting story line was just brushed aside.

While I can't pick fault with the logic they used to pick out Calvert, I think they came to the conclusion way too easily. I mean, Calvert's impact on Brockton Bay had been minimal up to the point where he became the Director of the Parahuman Investigations Department. They shouldn't have been able to single him out as quickly as they did.

All in all the story is pretty damn awesome, but it has fallen into a couple of Spacebattles clichés that annoy me every time I see them.

I haven't been following this fandom for the last few months, but recently I decided to try a few fics. The first that I managed to read all of was Harbinger, and it was alright. Mostly generic timetravel stuff with Taylor being OP, but the author is still making everything go her way, and I'm not sure how that's going to work out with Leviathan, since right now there's no reason for it to strike. Also, Taylor is given the cape name Monarch, and that's a name I've been using for her for a long time (ever since the Echidna arc was the newest arc when I started my 'Taylor in Faultine's group' fic). I guess it's kind of an obvious alternate name to use.

I've also been reading atonement thanks to this thread. It's more entertaining than I though it would be (more than the story I just mentioned, at least).

Read Zennith. Unless you already have. Ryuugi is the only one I feel comes close to really capturing Taylor's personality. Or the way she thinks.

I'll check our Harbinger though, just because I've always liked time travel fics.
