May I recommend my own fic here? It's Panopticon, over on Sufficient Velocity. It's Worm with a reasonably intelligent Lisa as the main protagonist. The storylines mostly follow canon so far, but the timeline starts earlier, so there's no canon rehashing.

I think it's a good fic, but I have very few views, which saddens me. It's a bit slow at times, but when it's good I think it's really good.

If you want to check for quality before reading, check out chapters 0.1, 1.6, 2.6, 3.1, 3.3 and 3.5 , or the side stories December Wind and A Long Day (all available through the index in the link up top). Reviews and constructive critism would be appreciated.

I think it's fairly well written, but the basic concept imposes a low upper limit on how exciting it can get. For example, take Lisa's escape attempts: since I knew that they would fail without any serious lasting consequences to her, there was no excitement about maybe seeing her succeed, or fear about what would happen if she didn't. This would be fine if there was some great character development along the way, but there hasn't really. I think you've done a good job of capturing Lisa's character from canon, but the problem is that you started too close to her character at the start of canon, so there wasn't really anywhere to go.

I am looking forward to seeing where it'll go as it diverges from canon.

Just burned through the story, and I really enjoyed it until now. There were a few typos or rather, forgotten words here and there and I agree with Saot in that the earlier escape attempts at least, while interesting, didn't quite generate as much excitement as I would have liked.

Then again, I did enjoy seeing Lisa being Lisa, her thoughts behind her actions and decisions and I do believe you have managed to write her rather well.

    Thank you for sharing this.

I haven't had a chance to fully read it yet, but given there are literally no other HP/Worm crossovers, I thought I'd put this here.

    At Spacebattles and FF.net.

I'm going to be honest. That sounds absolutely terrible.

Well, Riding Acromantulas and Understanding Magical Biology is not terrible, but it is not particularly good either, I would say it is a very average story.

They also don't have their powers right? If so, I pass.

It's not terrible (as a guilty pleasure), but there's very little keeping me interested and nothing of importance has actually happened yet. Given the way even good Worm fics tend to go downhill, I have very little expectations that this one will be good once the real story starts.

Really, all we've seen is Taylor meet McGonnagal and then go to Diagon Alley and buy shit. Not exactly scenes that are hard to pull off in a "not terrible" fashion.

This one seems to have landed on the lower end of the bell curve, considering that it has been four 500 word 'chapters' spaced over a realtime of 2 months.

What is below terrible because the update posted today falls below even that.

    Memories of Luthor

A Worm/DC crossover in which Taylor gets Lex Luthor's memories. Pretty well written, and updates almost every other day. Taylor's personality is a mix of canon Taylor and Luthor, so of course she's going to try to take over the world. To save it of course. Also, Coil is actually written to be a competent villain, something that few stories manage to do.

Interesting, and I think a better fic than the one that inspired it, but I feel like her not being a parahuman is a bit silly, instead the author uses the typical SI story explanation on SB.
Her gaining Luthor's knowledge and mental faculties could just as well had been how her triggering expressed itself.

It's just the usual SB echo chamber. They mean to say that she's not an Entity-trigger but, as with all the worst ideas on that site, they repeat it so much that it starts to seep into the stories.Next thing you know a teenager building Tinkertech is not a parahuman.

It's such a worthless idea too. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. It looks like a parahuman, quacks like one, it is one.

Also: Memories of Iron is much better. This fic is basically Memories of IRon on fast-forward. All the shit that took work there is done even faster and more conveniently here.First thing she does is get Kaiser and all the other big parahumans to a gala as a unknown. Then she steals a convenient matter-replicator from Leet.

Any actual...filling to these actions is missing. MoI at least had some speedbumps.

Maybe you're right it's a while since I read Memories of Iron so it's not the most objective comparison, Despite the annoyance you elaborated on, and the possible lack of 'speedbumps', I found the idea of Taylor having Luthor's memories more interesting, I've never been a fan of the Tony Stark character though so that contributed a bit.

Anyone who was following the (terribad) superfriends show that is Amelia should be advised that the story has moved off of spacebattles because of its sexual content. The author has decided to move it over to QuestionableQuesting which has much looser rules regarding what can and cannot be posted.

    For those curious:

Space Battles: Leans centrist, doesn't tolerate NSFW stuff on it's boards.
Sufficient Velocity: Leans leftist, doesn't tolerate NSWF stuff on it's boards.
Questionable Questing: Dicks. Dicks everywhere. And tits. And vaginas. So... yeah.

There is no sexual content in Amelia as of yet. The author was accrued-point-temp-banned for an off-color joke one of the characters said in an old chapter. They claimed it was fan service akin to an anime panty shot, which would be against their ambiguous NSFW rules.

He got tired of dealing with it and moved the story over to QQ in their Safe for Work section. That's pretty much it. So, no teen sex.

I'm just now really getting into Worm. I'm on the S9 arc. Did anyone else find Amy frustratingly annoying?
