Isn't great. Wouldn't recommend it that much, especially because the Author uses breaks in odd places and doesn't where he should have.

 

Not quite what you're looking for, but there is Materia-Blade's newest fic.

Hypnos: Basic premise is that Eden is actually still alive and constantly turning back time whenever Scion destroys the world so that she can study shards better. Whenever Scion is killed, she takes the person who kills him and turns them into an Endbringer in punishment/boredom. So far, its all been about Hypnos (Taylor's Endbringer form) attacking Brockton Bay in place of Leviathan.

Too new to really rate (4 chapters) but I think its an interesting idea and there's been some good worldbuilding considering its size.

 

Read that recently, I really like it.

Biigoh, have you decided that story is serious again?

 

This was buried back on page 38, and I wanted to bring it up again in case someone missed it. Definitely seconding Nemrut here - this is really good. Short and to the point. I'm not sure what it is about Worm specifically, but I seem to be really picky about getting canon characters true to their canon tone, and this definitely does that in an interesting way. Easy 4/5, tentative 5/5.

 

Lavanya does good short work, and lots of it. Is presently looking at working long in Worm. Will be interesting to see the results.

 

Yeah, despite being a one shot (or maybe because of it?) it's got to be my favourite relationship dynamic I've read in the worm fandom so far. As you said Newcomb, very true to canon tone.

Can someone pretty please write a full length fic with that pairing?

The Bii is always serious, and Goblin Queen at its heart is a horror story. It just so happens to be shown from the PoV of one of the monsters in said horror story and thus isn't horrific most of the time unless someone looks at what's implied in the background. :3

I enjoyed reading Nyctophobia. Emma tries to kill herself following Taylor's outing at Arcadia, fails, triggers instead, and ends up moving to Detroit and fighting crime there. It's nothing exceptional, but merely not being an alt-power!Taylor story and being focused on low-level heroics while Other People are off saving the world in the background makes it stand out.

 

Seconded, really enjoying this so far. Like Saot said, though, it's nothing overly amazing but definitely a decent time waster.

If anyone wants to know, Emma's Power:

She's a sort of cross between Skitter and Shadow Stalker. She can create and control shadowy monsters within a certain distance.

That's the gist of it anyway.

 

Liked the concept of Nyctophobia and enjoyed the first 2 or so chapters (which are quite long). But as most Worm fics, found things were overdone so much.

I like that in fights Emma finds herself trying to emulate Shadow Stalker and (what she thinks) Taylor would do. What I absolutely hate is that you can't go a few paragraphs beyond someone commenting on how she's Skitter 2.0, a cross of Skitter/Shadow Stalker, etc. I find that really annoying. Keep it all in Emma's head. She shouldn't even know how Taylor fights.

I like the idea of the story focusing on more minor, street level fights while Other People save the world, but that's kind of reduced when she's stupidly powerful (what was it, Thinker 2, Master 6, Shaker 5 or something?) and her first major skirmishes are pretty big things.

Preferred it when it was more focused on her own character development, interactions with her family, etc.

Also, I actually find myself a lot more interested in Mausketeer/Kotsuage. =P

Troubles With Me

Premise is that after a late night movie, Taylor stumbles across Aisha's trigger event and beats the hell out of some Nazi's with a bat. This leads to Taylor and Aisha being a vigilante pair, with Taylor having no powers. It's surprisingly well done.
