This story sounds painful... very painful. Someone should slap a big hazard sticker on it.

The author has so many vapidly praising reviews that a bit of criticism can't hurt. Constructive flames can help authors, too!

Of course, don't be too mean - the writer has a link to DLP on his author's page.

I love the image of ip82 struggling with the idea of adding in ninjas. Snapping his head with a facial tic, repeating "claws! claws!"

I don't need to read this. But I'm glad that ip82 did.

This is almost good. A few too many cliches and the fact that Harry's private retreat is something more like a hotel now spoils it. A few new different things though.

I like the first few chapters since it has some good ideas. What is bad about this fic is that the H/g gag worthy. This fic is almost decent if you can skip over all the fluffy h/g scenes.

you may want to edit your post and put a space between the : and the http

that will mean folk can just click on link rather than C&P.

I would have to streniously disagree with placing it here, it is an excellent fic, that has brilliant concepts, brilliant execution and excelent writing style.

Ok, updates could be faster, but there are lots of fics with a slower update speed that aren't ehre that are overall worse than yours.

    (Heh, it's been a while...)

    Might I Say by ElusiveEvan

I had high hopes from this one, but it seems HBP is bewitched to turn any fic based on it into a pure pussy-whipped crap-fest.

It begins by Harry ditching his friends, moving to the Chamber of Secrets and training on his own in conjuration and curses. At this point, I was thinking "Finally, a worthwhile post-HBP story".

But from this point onward, everything went to shit. Harry starts pinning after Ginny his twue luw and finds the founders locked up in Room of Requirements. Then Voldemort attacks and Harry runs off to fight him (even though he hasn’t destroyed the Horracruxes). The result? 3000 death eaters suffering a staggering defeat against few hundred aurors, with no student or teacher dying in the fight (it would have probably upset Gin) and Harry whooping Voldemort’s ass and sending him running with his 2 months of training. Yeah right.

So apart from the obvious problem of this being slash, if you can jump over any fluff scenes at all, up until the last 15 chapters (and in a story this long that isn't bad) this is probably one of the best post-HBP Harry's I've seen.

Harry isn't super powerful. There is a really good and realistic reason he is the only one who can defeat Voldemort that isn't based on Love (cause really, every person but Voldemort knows love). Snape, though not on the Dark Lord's side is not overly nice. Draco is still a prick sometimes and Harry isn't neither super intelligent nor a pansy. So if you can ignore the slash, it would make almost a book 7 worthy fanfiction. (And I do realize that is a big thing to overlook)

Then you get to like chapter 48 or something and anything good about this fic blows up in your face (except when Hermione and Ron want to get obliviated, that was just great). Anyway, Snape becomes REALLY mushy and fatherly to Harry. But the big kicker is there is this big build up to the end scene - you know the final showdown between Voldemort and Harry - and NO ONE on the lightside dies. I mean really, it may be an ambush of sorts, but SOMEONE should have died. Instead, though Lucius being an evil prick who chooses family over the dark lord (ok...) to a redeemed man who is allowed around little children for no reason (what?); Snape goes from being on the light side, but still a sarcastic and ugly man who simply learns to see Harry for Harry (ok...) to being a man who hugs Harry for no good reason and starts saying nice mushy things (again, huh?); and EVERYONE lives. The overly happy sappy ending made me want to wash my brain out.

Interesting (or sad) thing about this story was it's not half-bad (even for H/G), up until you get to OotP where it heads south.

The Ministry Steps In by EveBB

This fic caught my attention because it seemed very similar to my "Scrimegour's man" plot idea. Unfortunately, the realization turned it out into just another mushy/whiny postHBP crap-fest.

Mind you, I only skimmed through it, but I saw enough shit to remove this one from my bearable-to-read list - whiny!Harry crying in front of Wizengamot, begging them to let him go, submissive!Harry, Harry the minister's little bitch, best friends forever bullshit etc... All in all, wasted opportunity IMO.

I just read through the first chapter and I somewhat agree with you. But this fic is a good read all in all, if you simply ignore the twue friends crap, and the whining. It actually makes sense how Rufus would combat Voldemort. I kinda like it.

Cuptentard's new fic under his FFN account, "raincheck"

I'll start you off with his reply to my review of his fic...
My review must have really pissed him off for him to have replied in an eMail, which is a good thing in my books. He was right about one thing though. I had only skimmed the fic, not actually read it. So after reading his eMail, I took the liberty of taking a closer look at his latest attempt at writing...
    This is what I found...
Now I will quote my original review...

Well Cupdentard, after reading you fic I have only one thing to say. My original review still stands.
