I thought the whole backstory bit in chapter 1 and 2 was unnecessary. It read like some bad indy-Harry story. The type that DLP would have liked in 2007.
If you wrote a story about that part it could be quite good - it's similar to A Black Comedy actually with the stealing.
But it's just a retelling and I found it boring. The humor seemed really immature. This made it worse, because this is a retelling by the adult Harry and thus he now seems to be an immature asshole.

I hope it picks up a bit now that the 'real' story starts.

Hogwarts Battle School » reviews AU. Voldemort kills Dumbledore but is defeated by a child. In Dumbledore's will, Snape becomes the Headmaster and radically changes Hogwarts. Harry Potter of House Slytherin begins his Third Year at Hogwarts Battle School and realizes that friend and foe are too similar for his liking. Competing with allies and enemies, Harry finds there is a cost to winning.Harry Potter - Rated: M - English - Adventure/Romance - Chapters: 7 - Words: 39,406 - Reviews: 120 - Updated: 9-21-12 - Published: 7-31-12 - Harry P. & Hermione G.

It definitely manages to be different. I think the third year start is a big plus (more fics should start in third year, it's really the forgotten year as most late starting fics go to fourth year or later), and even though parts of it are a little campy or cliched, the overall product is pretty cool.

The use of the Room of Requirement as a classroom for the school in general, rather than a select group, is actually a pretty logical idea, and in hindsight I'm surprised I've never seen it done before.

The title of that made me think it was an HP/Ender's Game crossover. I am disappoint. :(

Interesting. It isn't an Ender's Game crossover, nor a fusion. But it heavily borrows ideas, and the anonymous conversations at the end of chapters are the same too.

It isn't bad. It isn't great, and it IS confusing - starting in third year, and with no mention of the Stone or the Chamber it seems like they've just been left out. But an A/N states things are the same as canon.

It's similar to The Other Boy Who Lived in that the premise of the story doesn't actually make any sense and you just have to accept that and move on, but otherwise the story isn't bad.

Title: Harry Potter and the Most Electrifying Man
    Author: SSVD
    Pairing: None
    Rating: T
    Link: Here
Story Summary: Dumbledore found another living relative for Harry to live with. One who is the most electrifying man in all of entertainment.

EDIT: Since the story's summary isn't very clear, let me clarify:
It's a Super Harry story where Harry is raised by WWE Superstar The Rock.
    ...Yeah.

I was looking for an insane story because I love reading those and I...found it. I actually read this before but I think it only had three chapters back when I read it the first time and now it's completed. It's almost recommendable because it's simutaneously the best and the worst thing I have ever read. I mean it's absolutely atrocious, but it's clearly done on purpose. There are so many things wrong with the story and yet I cannot hate it. Plus it's a parody(...I think?) so it's...okay?

Point is, it's definitely not for everyone so I didn't post it for review for the library but goddamn it that's hilarious.

So what the hell is this about? All you've said is that it's "insane" with literally no other description.

Right, forgot that "most electrifying man" isn't a term everybody knows. My bad. It's a "What if Harry Potter was raised by WWE Superstar The Rock?" story.

from what I understood from reading chapter 1, Harry's relative is a wrestler. I think it may or may not be the Rock. and Harry becomes the stereotypical wrestling hero archetype.

The fuck. Totally makes sense to leave something like an appointment of a Headmaster of the school to the previous ones fucking will.

The fuck is this I don't even.

Yeah, some of the stuff makes fuck all sense but overall I enjoyed what there is so far. Most of the annoying things (like the aforementioned appointment and the meta references like Hermione reading Ender's Game - a problem the author has had before) are fairly easy to ignore thankfully.

Also, who is the other person in the anonymous conversation supposed to be? I have a few guesses but I'm struggling to come to a conclusive decision on who it is.

Even without the meta references it's too "HAY GUYS HARRY IS ENDER" for my tastes, but for now there's enough good things that I'll put up with it.

Assuming it's an adult character with lines the only real options are Lupin and Trow. Lupin seems unlikely at first, but it would answer the question of why Snape would hire him. OTOH, "because Dumbledore did in canon" is an answer that would make just as much sense as the rest of the setting, so maybe that isn't even a real question.

I was almost sure it was Dumbledore's portrait until the part where it appeared that this person
influenced the students who attacked Harry
. I have no clue now, but I would prefer it if it was someone we know from canon.

Harry Potter and the most Electrifying Man is surprisingly good. Just like Philo I read most of it a while back and even though I'm not a wrestling fan I was laughing out loud through most of it.
