I let my brain go on ahead of my eyes and read that as 'stereotypical wrestling hero arch-mage'... so, my next thought was, "Sure, because who hasn't read three or four of those stories." :awesome

I vaguely remember reading this one a while back.

    Vaguely.

This is different. Good, different. A (not quite so) light-hearted story that doesn't take itself too seriously. A little on the crackish side, but it's surprisingly well written.

Maybe I'm just easily amused/pleased today, but things like this:
    sold me on it.

Harry's fascination with his toy wand was hilarious. The interaction with Sirius was quite good. Looking forward to more of this story.

Fiddlesticks is fascinating so far. It's a dark, tragic setting, where everybody just gets on with life and tries to laugh into the darkness. It's a refreshing change, yet doesn't quite seem to be ridiculous joke after joke as much crack-ish stories tend towards.

I"m recommending this fic because it is unique. The premise isn't anything unusual. Harry breaks down after the tournament and decides that everyone has betrayed him and the government is in league with Voldemort. So he runs away. Then he places his name under a Fidelius charm and everyone forgets who the boy who lived is. This has major effects. For instance, Sirius decides he has no reason to stick around and leaves Britain.

Eh. The joke is a one trick pony and it gets old really quickly. The effects of Harry disappearing under the Fiedelius are honestly ridiculous, and I don't think any of the characters are written particularly well. The premise of Harry being able to completely hide himself under the Fidelius is so OP (especially the way this author did it where there are no negative consequences for Harry) that it just kills the story.

The premise and Paranoid!Harry would have made an amusing one-shot or two-shot crackfic. As a long, multi-chaptered effort that can't seem to decide if it wants to be humor or serious, it falls incredibly flat.

It's not really a well constructed or told story but the irony is that now after the Fidelius everybody gets paranoid too:)

Besides the Deus Ex Machina issue about the personal Fidelius I don't see much difference concept wise doing it on a house, an organization or a person.

It reminds me of the Mr. Black stories only without the plot, or the humor, or pretty much anything else. Okay, it doesn't remind me of the Mr. Black stories. :facepalm

It's true, one spoon is too little, even for just one. As the saying goes, "one for each person, and one for the pot". And you always tend to make more tea than just one person can drink, so yeah. 3 spoons minimum, really.

Kinda odd making the tea in the kettle and not a teapot, but I guess if it's a metal kettle rather than electric (which it is, as it's whistling) it could work.

I actually did that for a time in college (before I had my shocking epiphany that as an adult living on my own I had to actually buy things), and the main problems I ran into was that it didn't hold heat very well and it rendered the kettle useless for purposes other than making tea.

As an American, your loose tea scares and confuses me!

Or not, but it's fun to say. I admit, though, to both having tea balls, and not using them. Make of that what you wish. :awesome

I think I usually took two spoons for a pot, but using the kettle is odd indeed. If he wanted just one cup of tea, he could've just as well put the tea into the cup.

(Inb4 he drinks from the kettle.)

Dear God, you heathens - haven't you ever heard of tea bags?

There's so much wrong with that comment, Jorm, that I don't know where to begin.

    1. Loose leaf tea is common in the UK.

    2. Loose leaf tea is superior to tea bags.

    3. Loose leaf tea is classier than tea bags. Tea bags are fine for the average cup, but if you want to have a proper cup of tea - say if you're having an afternoon tea with scones - then you're going to want the real deal.

    4. Americans have tea bags. I don't think loose leaf is very common in the US.

I live in America and I prefer loose leaf over tea-bags. But then my parents are European, so.

All but the last are true. Living in the US I love loose leaf tea, though European parents and being born there may have something to do with that. Then again I swear I had to have been British in my past life with the amount of tea I drink daily...

As for teabags well i'll leave it to the pro's ;)

I've seen stranger thread derailments. But not that often, all things considered.
