I wonder if it was inspired by A Brother's Price by Wen Spencer. Same concept, minus magic. I know when I read A Brother's Price, I did briefly wonder what the HP world would be like the same conditions.

That would be in the Library thread. You're in Almost Recommendable thread at the moment.

I can never understand why people come into this thread and bitch and moan about the standards not being high enough. It's a given that if you see a story here it's short, most times way more than short, of what most DLP members would call a good story, mostly full of guilty pleasures and bland fics to pass the time when there's nothing else to read.

It's like looking at a porn magazine and being shocked that there are naked people between the pages. GASP!

If the story is utter crap (unreadable because of tons of spelling-grammar errors, fifteen billion cliches, etc.) then I can see calling the OP on the choice.

Seriously, lighten up. If you want a four/five star story, go to the Library and read to your heart's content.

How surprising! Someone with a vagina doesn't understand. I did not see that coming!

This is DLP, Heather. Bad stories are never posted here! OP should be ashamed of posting this kind of garbage here and tainting our website! What douchebag does something like that....

Passable Harry/Narcissa. The Author mostly writes Draco/Narcissa, so if that's your thing go ahead and check his/her other stories.
If you're looking for smut like I, ahem, sometimes am, chapter 3 is where it is.
I'm recommending this solely for the pairing sake.

I get that this is sarcasm and you're poking fun at samkar, but what's with that first paragraph? Was someone suggesting anything along those lines?

No, rand, Vash is just being a douche because thats his shtick. Sometimes he does it in a funny/sarcastic way, as this time, and sometimes he does it in a way that suggests he wants to do violent things to your brain case.

Hmm. The best analogy I can come up with, is that DLP is somewhat like the Michelin guide. Stories of good quality are rewarded with a place in the library (we even got stars), but even being featured in the almost recc. thread is a high honor :p

Of course taste (both the sense of & literary) is a bit subjective, so there is always... friction.

Harry Potter and the Puppet of Time had just updated. I salute the author for the final battle scene. Abraxas may have been a convenient Deus-ex-machina "the grandfather will solve all of my problems" - but he certainly goes with style. Link to the last chapter.

There is a moment in this fic, where in the heat of the moment Narcissa screams out,

"... Right there. Up! Up! Down. Faster!"
And all I can think about is the fucking Konami Code while I break down laughing.

    Edit: Oh cool, they updated.

@ Alexeyy, Abraxas Malfoy goes down with style, taking Greyback with him.

Here is a story I found a few days ago. It's a Harry Potter/ Dresen Files crossover from the author of 'Yes, I am Harry Potter's brother'.

Title: Harry Potter and the lost archive.

Pairings: Harry/ Ivy, Hermione/ Kreacher( Yeah! I know. Laughed my ass out. It's done pretty well).

    Rating: M

Summary: In the aftermath of the Battle of Hogwarts Harry meets a powerful magical practitioner named Ivy, who asks the young hero for a small favor. She wants him to be the father of her children.

Give it a read. It's pretty good.

    That story isn't good.

In fact, it's downright horrible. I was pretty excited when it was first posted, thinking that a Harry/Ivy pairing would be awesome.

    Spoiler: This author ruins everything.

Well, her "I am Harry Potter's brother' is very good. Check it out. It was posted previously on this thread.

I almost didn't read it because the title wasn't capitalised.

Then I saw the link and noticed that the title was capitalised, it's just mohan removed them.

    So I read it.

Didn't like the Dresden magic wank that it clearly was. I won't get into the many ways in which HP magic has advantages over Dresden magic - that's been talked about elsewhere. Anyway, didn't get past chapter one.

In what universe is that a good story?

I ask because I need to destroy that universe.

That's mostly just the first chapters; later chapters spend quite a bit of time talking about and showing how HP magic is superior to DF magic in a lot of ways despite being less "powerful".

Ynyr's stories are odd. They're extremely abrupt, with major characters dying with little to no warning, and the plots pivot off into a completely different direction several times per story. To some extent this is good; they're certainly far better than bland and predictable stories with zero conflict, but Ynyr goes way too far in the other direction. It's pretty much the only time that I've thought that some filler to slow down the pacing would actually improve things.
