Unexpectedly, the story has been updated. I still like this story, even though I had to re-read it completely in order to remember what it was about. In later chapters the story shows more similarity in some ways to Joe's 'Unfound Door', but it's less creepy or over-mysterious. Also, the POVs and time skips are rather loose.

It still links to chapter 2.

    A Time for Changeling

So... it's kinda gay story, but I read it and it was kinda good. More Emotional drama then magic, but we can't have it all, eh?

By "kinda gay" do you mean it's a slash story (between Harry and Dudley by the sound of it, which is very cringe worthy) or it's gay as in lame? Either way the summary is kind of bad.

No slash, I meant lame. :) I never said it was a good story... it is readable.

What a weird fucking story. And not in a good way.

Honestly, it's just a strange excuse for a not particularly well written indie!Harry fic. Harry leaves gets contacts and his hair dyed blond in the first chapter, and I suspect if I read on he would become the Heir of Merlin, too.

Not bothering, I'm afraid. 1.5/5, due to mildly interesting premise.

I tried it a long time ago and the whole concept just rubbed me in a really bad way. Too annoying.

Well, it uses the Dobby-thing, but that works. Worse is the abusive!Dursleys plot, and I scrolled past that. What I disliked most was the middle of the second chapter, which dragged on and made me impatient. The ending was way better, and that the author is in Cornwall makes me glad. I like it when people know what they are writing about.

Other than that, a few minor logic bumps -- e.g. that you can buy a book about the Potters in Diagon Alley, which refuses to be read by anyone other than a Potter, is not exactly the most useful thing in the world ...

All in all, I give it a 3/5 so far, but there is an upward curve. I have expectations for this story.

Probably because you changed the text part, but not the link itself - they're not necessarily the same, e.g. www.google.com

Harry Potter and the Swarm by Beyogi

Harry is fed up with watching memories about Voldemort in Dumbledores pensieve. Watching movies in holographic quality doesn't help him survive whatever the Dark Lord has planned next. Looking for help, Harry stumbles into the Room of Requirement, finding a mysterious book about summoning rituals... The Zerg are a mighty help indeed, but this help doesn't come cheap. Please R&R.

    Crossover - Harry Potter & StarCraft - Rated: T - English - Sci-Fi - Chapters: 17 - Words: 83,344 - Reviews: 478 - Updated: 5-4-13 - Published: 12-25-12 - Harry P. & Overmind

Searched the author's name, nothing popped up.

So, a Harry/Starcraft x-over. Harry summons a Drone, and builds a Hatchery in the Forbidden Forest. Harry is basically canon!Harry who very slowly starts to change into a more independent, proper Overmind. The Swarm actually takes sort of second place - the main focus of the fic is Harry doing his everyday life in Hogwarts et al. He's still canon!Harry, he doesn't suddenly become an alien tyrant Overlord and conquer the planet. It's pretty slow going, and Harry's everyday teenage problems are annoying, but it's a realistic and pretty unique x-over.

Read a few chapters, mildly entertained, before I stopped and thought "what the hell am I reading?". There's not really that much happening at all in the fic, and it seems determined to retreat the HBP romance plotlines (with differences, but still with a focus on teen romance).

There's not really much that's really offensive about the fic. There's nothing that makes me tear my hair out. But there's also very little to recommend it - it's just a bit bland.

    Definite Almost Recommended material.

I know nothing of Starcraft, and found it perfectly readable despite that.

However, the writing isn't great. Harry tends to say "no use crying over spilt milk" at least once a chapter, and some of the conversations feel stilted. It was by no means painful to read, but it wasn't truly drawing me in.

That said, it's mildly amusing. I've not seen a hivemind!Harry before (apart from one abandoned Tyranid thing that lasted one chapter), and there's some changes away from the canon events, so it might spiral out to more interesting contents at some point. I subbed, but I have no taste.

I raged when he said in an AN that he'd keep the swarm minions simple. (something to that effect anyway)

    No ultralisks? Gtfo.

Well I can't actually think of a scenario where ultralisk could be used short of total war, they are what, 50 meters tall or so?

Yes they are huge. It'd be hard to fit an ultralisk into any scene really, considering it wouldn't be able to even fit in the Great Hall or ministry atrium.

Still though, I'm somewhat surprised it hasn't already become Harry/Queen pairing.

Yet... It hasn't become one yet. Though it would probably turn out better than most HP pairings.

And off course even if it all sucks from here it actually managed to make me interested in the concept, a while ago when I read it I figured it would make me suffer as pretty much all the magic and sci-fi crossover do.
