Just finished it. The chapters with Tom were beyond retarded. Jesus christ.

It's not a great story... I think people are just looking for anything to latch on at this point that didn't begin life in the WBA here.

The same for me. I am unable to read it, what is quite rare for me (usually I am unable to stop reading even truly awful stories).

Story Summary: After an encounter with she-who-should-probably-not-be-named, a strange transformation takes place, and a new character joins the Harry Potter series.

A pretty well written story. It's unabashedly a Mary Sue and is not Harry centric. I'd rate it around a 3/5. kinda fun read

Why would you recommend a Mary Sue, non-Harry centric story? Just why?

Is it available on a site that doesn't require registration to view the story?

no, just that site. Although if you do register you don't need to worry about getting put on a mailing list, ads or anything like that.

Ah, a well written Mary Sue fic. Excellent. Thanks for the recommendation! I feel like I have to give you something in return, so here, have my collection of good Twilight fanfic, Michael Bay movies without explosions, JJ Abrams movies without lens flare, and mathematics textbooks explaining how 2+2=5.

I thought Michael Bay's signature move were the blatant pointless helicopters gliding through scenes in slow motion:)

After Sirius dies, Harry is isolated and feels betrayed by everyone who's been around him recently and leaves to figure out what he should do. An "old friend" is sent to look after him and try to bring him back. Together they search for a way to kill a Dark Lord and maybe fix society too.

kb0's new one. It's only one chapter but it's pretty good, if not a slightly cliched premise. I'm posting it here because kb0 is a solid writer with a history of finishing his stories and having a fairly regular update rate.

EDIT: His profile says that he'll update weekly, and has wrote the entire story except for the last chapter.

Damn it. Got all excited about that one. Though that it's going to be a epub of that Seife book.

I can never understand what could motivate a technically competent writer who has a strong work ethic to repeatedly use the same drivel. How can someone take pride in their work when they look at it and so much of it is so obviously derivative? Often when I'm writing I'll avoid using an idea that might have fit the story, just because I've seen it used once or twice before...

kb0 wrote the very first harry/daphne story I ever read, and got me into the pairing..... needless to say I now hate him for all the suffering he has caused me :(

That's why I put his new story here. It's more of a time waster; not a story that you eagerly await an update for, but something I'll read when I'm bored and have some time to kill.

I do wish that he'd put more effort into his plots though.

I really like this one, it is almost reply to "Potter Formula" thread (except fact that it diverges earlier).

No canon rehash, interesting and nice story without serious problems. I liked characterisation, author is aware that soul bonds all around are unlikely to result in a good story. Book one is finished, second one is in progress. Thanks for recommending.

I even think about posting it in the "Review Board" section, I think it have a decent chance to end in the Library.

Doesn't this whole argument kind of fail when you're talking about fanfiction in the first place?

This is a HP/DF crossover. Its not that special, but I certainly found it entertaining.
It has Dresden taking up the DADA teacher position and bringing Molly along with him.

The one good thing about this is that HP wizards usually don't know about how DF wizards work. And DF wizards don't know how HP ones work.

I hate the crossovers where apparently both sides know about each other, and everything is explained as a matter of fact. I enjoyed reading about Dresden's reactions to HP magic.

The characterization is not spot on, but the final result is still entertaining enough.
I would have given it 4/5 if there was a bit more Harry/Molly going on, but as it stands I would just rate it recycle bin worthy.

    Which Harry and which Molly?

Both series feature characters with those names.

It started to lean towards Harry Potter and Molly Carpenter, but then sorta just dropped that idea.
