It looks like the last paragraph of the second chapter is the real summary of the story.

....does DLP have an ignore list function? Because damn, you can't even post a coherent disagreement.
Its not that they dislike it, its the utterly stupid reasons they provide. And they don't even know what the words they type mean. That's the sad part. Could the fic have been fleshed out, year by year? Could it be massively expanded to include everything from the burning of Bellatrix to the end? Oh yes. Is it a bit shallow as a fic? Yes. But...

    "muh psychopathy"

is far and away just about the dumbest thing to harp on. Especially when certain people apparently have zero fucking clue what the fuck that even means. Like, deadeye wasn't even mentioning Voldemort's general behavior or how he is written as evidence and when asked, look what this guy puts up as some sort of evidence of psychopathy.

Complete bullshit, utterly and completely. This is exactly the opposite of what should have happened. But in the fandom....YOLO#
Actually, Voldemort occasionally mentions how odd it is that the Pheonix follows him. A few times actually. Again, massive fucking trolling, the entire scene, complete troll fest. Ever read SuperHarry stories? Not "I actually have training and dedication and show the results"Harry, but "I can duel Aurors into submission at 13" Harry? Yeah....
Um...your point? This is actually among the most reasonable bits in the fic. But its a set up for
Pointing out how stupidly far some fanfics take Dumbledore's asscovering, and making a legitimate grievance regarding Dumbledore letting Severus Snape continue his general bullshit in canon. In story, I think Snape had already completely snapped, what with, remember, enduring Lily's bullshit for weeks. Or days can't remember.
It happened in Hogwarts, so there was no escape for Arthur. He gets away with it though. Also, um. Nah, I support Arthur's actions there. Because otherwise, a cover up might have been successful.

Go watch A Time to Kill with Matthew Mconahey? and Samuel L. Jackson.
If you haven't near died laughing while typing this in regards to the shipping fandom, you have no soul. Read it again. Its also a statement about the only way crazy shipping pairs like this could happen

    Pure Undiluted Crazy Ass Bullshit
No? I was expecting you to mention the whole deal with Percy and Rita Skeeter. Or even the very last scene...but oh no, characters display written emotions! Nothing that you mentioned indicates psychopathy in any way. At all. Ever. It may indicate a terrible sense of humor, but not really.

You're just plain dumb and have no concept of psychopathy/sociopathy. This is amazing. Lemme guess, you think canon Granger is a Mary Sue Self Insert and thus a completely terrible character with no redeeming qualities?
    ...:facepalm

I wish I could write good fanfic. :(

    So um no.

Man. Fics that exist only to try to break down/make fun of dumb cliches are even worse than the innocently cliched stories they're making fun of.

Yes. You're about to be added to mine. I think there's no purpose in discussing that story any further.

On topic: I thought I'd mention that Books of Change's HP/Sherlock Holmes crossover A Study in Magic has a sequel out that updated the other day. Link. The pacing is a bit slow and it's too OC-heavy for many people's tastes, but a guilty pleasure for some (myself included).

    Yes.

Overall, the writing is of decent quality, if slowly paced. While there are many OCs in the story, they are at least fleshed out. The writing has a bit of a pawky tone that balances the moments of angst. It's not as Harry-centric as most DLP Library stories, which is why it's almost recommended.

(And I apologize that I didn't look up whether the sequel was referenced here. I was on a mobile device at the time I posted before, making searches cumbersome.)

Oh, I absolutely despise that fic. Almost as much as I hate that one C'thulu Mythos/Naruto fic. There's a lot more wrong with that fic then OC's. Beware spoilers, i guess.

It starts off well enough, but get's steadily worse and worse. LeStrade's Daughter? A Witch. LeStrade himself/ the long-lost son of a member of the Lestrange family. LeStrade's deceased wife's family? From magical china. His Father-in-law? Apparently a badass old chinese wizard on the level of Dumbeldore who has a unique style of magic he's taught to his family and has devoted his life to fighting those who make horcruxes.

LeStrade's Sister-in-law who is also Harry's violin teacher and an eventual teacher at Hogwarts? Knows how to make shadow clones. Also has a figured out how to make technology and magic and brings her laptop to Hogwarts, yay! She also proceeds to make a fortune off that, iirc, by making wizarding Cellphones and television.

Watson's old boyfriend? A Magical prodigy with a dark past from china and then america who can read minds like fucking Edward Cullen and can open portals to anywhere, who is also gifted in being a surgeon, but is also 'eccentric.' And he also eventually hooks up with the violin teacher.

Oh, and then there's that bullshit fact that apparently when a Wizard (but not a Witch!) loses their virginity, their magic stops growing.

It's been awhile since i've read this fic, so i'm probably forgetting some other things that infuriated me...

Oh! Snape becomes something like BFF's with Watson, Sherlock is immune to legilimency and I'm fairly sure Mycroft get's involved at some point too.

    Among other things.

People Lie by Nugar or are you talking about another fic?

To each his own; please feel free to hate. I just had hoped to point out the existence of the sequel to the handful of people who might be interested (and maybe avoid yet another multi-quote bitchfest on Kroq's love interest/favorite author).

Oh, I don't know. That can hardly be worse than Harry all of a sudden picking up a guitar and playing it, because, like, all the cool teenage boys totally like, play one, you know?

Can any of you think of a possible way Harry could pick up lessons on playing an instrument, of any kind, that wouldn't strain your SoD? I suppose one could go the way of music class being one of the areas Dudley abhorred so its an excellent place for Harry while at school.

I suppose my main problem with Harry playing an instrument is that he really never seemed the type to enjoy playing music to me. He put in minimal effort with his magic, why would it be any different with any other skill that requires continuous effort and time to make worth while?

That, and, lets not forget that if some form of instrument is mentioned then it will find a way to worm into every thrice damned scene of the story regardless of how stupid it is to read about Harry and how his amazo poignant strumming/blowing/whistling/whatever brings tears to the eyes of 'insert female name here' and everyone else who happens to hear him screeching.

In grudging respect to this one point, the story actually handles it fairly well. Sherlock is a noted violinist and in the story, he has Harry take it up as well. Iirc, Harry isn't actually much a fan of playing an instrument, though he like his teacher.

Still a fucking stupid story though.

I'd like to point out that there is another, much superior, fic also called A Study in Magic, but this one is by Vixit.

Despite the title and the initial premise (Sherlock raises Harry), all is different. For example, Vixit's story seems to base Sherlock on the original book version rather than the BBC version.

    Linky Link!
