So, I'm looking for AU fics where Harry attends a Wizarding school other than Hogwarts. Or really alternative looks at the magical world. Preferably long and complete stories. There are quite a few options in the library like Wit of the Raven, The Defender of Beauxbatons and Harry Potter and the Boy-Who-Lived.

I'm just looking for more. I've also read a few where Harry goes to secret schools for assassins in different places. There's one where the assassin school is in Canada, another where it's called the Nightshades... Does anybody know if there's a community for fics along these lines?

Srsly, though, any fic like this is going to run into the same problems as Flairgold's shit. If it is set away from the Potter setting, with original characters and a different magic system, then it isn't Harry Potter, no matter what the main character's name is. Especially if his name isn't Harry Potter.

I remember there was one story where Victor's father adopts Harry as Victor's brother. I have it in my favorites, I'll link it here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3515603/1/

This story is where Harry is attacked by Voldemort, lives, and Aleksander takes Harry, and adopts him as a Krum, he then becomes a very competent dueler with Victor. They both go to Durmstrang, and 4th year they go to the Tri-Wizard Tournament at Hogwarts. It was pretty good, though not finished and probably abandoned.

I'm personally not a fan of adding non-canon magic systems to the HP universe, but I remember this story as relatively readable, if not the author's best work. It's been a while though, and I'm not inclined to reread unless she updates again.
