If you're absolutely interested in making this an UBER!Harry fic, you'd best make it creative, or you're probably asking the wrong people for advice.

 

And you might consider changing the pairing while you're at it. Harry/Ginny...blargh, disgusting.

 

The whole heir of merlin thing is in 99% of fanfics sucks and well......
People here generally don't like this as well as the harry/ginny and the portrait and the personal RoR and wandless magic , and the multi-animagus, and uber harry that seems in the future of this story. The delivery needs work, backstory showed promise.

harr/ginny AND being an heir of some super godlike wizard. I just can't stomach it, from reading the summary you could probably make the same sorta fic. without the whole heir of merlin thing and i haven't looked at your story yet, but i hope you proofread..

 

I donno. I kindda like it. Its got a lot of potential. I enjoyed reading the first few chapters and really want to see where you go with this.

Yeah the Heir of Merlin has been over done but I could suggest a twist if you are interested. He isn't an heir by blood or magic but by teaching. You know like an apprentice. He gains possession of Merlins knowledge.

Please please please don't make it a H/G story. There are so many of them out there. Go for a different pairing, maybe something unusual (no slash plz).

Yeah, sry bout the whole H/G thing.... I was just trying to get word of the story out last night and sorta missed the small detail that no one likes H/G here...

So I'm open to suggestions. What girl do you want Harry to link up with (no death eaters or girl 20 years older then him)? Tonks, female Blaise, Luna, Patil sisters, Susan Bones, etc... anyone you want.

And yes I know this idea is very cliche, but I want to twist it. You'll see in later chapters, or you can figure it out from the title. 'An Heir of an Heir' Just think that Harry may have descended from Merlin, but just who did Merlin descend from?

Advice you guys can give, but please make it constructive and avoid flames cuz remember this is my first story... well the other doesn't count...

 

I'm not interested in making an UBER!Harry fic, cuz honestly, that just destroys the fun of making a final battle between Harry and Voldemort. According to the prophecy, he does have equal power to Voldemort though...

I don't know. I'm not a big fan of "heir!harry" fics.

I guess pair him up with Daphne Greengrass.

 

Heir of Merlin? Training with Merlin outside of canon!time? A pairing that was Harry/Ginny but is now open to voting? And voting on which standard 'super' power to give him?

No offense, but so far it sounds like you're trying to write the most standard generic fanfiction you can. You've got no hook here. No something different that catches my interest and makes me want to read it.

Out of curiousity, what is it you even want to write? Is it a genuine interest and idea you really like about Merlin? If it is, then that better be a pretty damn cool part.

And if I were you, I'd strongly recommend coming up with an impressive special power. Those listed in the poll have all been done hundreds of times before. Have a really clear idea on a compelling or in depth way of doing that special power. Some fics are pretty standard but will have really good ideas on rune magic or arithmancy. Or something like that. Whatever 'power' you feel like haphazardly deigning Harry worthy of shouldn't simply be something you personally don't care about.

I'm not saying you're not a great author. This fic could very easily be a great read and I'll love it. But why are you writing it?

 

I agree with nonjon. Having the readers vote for pairings and plot is a sign that the author doesn't really care about his or hers work. Fics like that usually get abandoned really quick.

If you really like to write about Merlin and have Harry end up with Ginny, then tell these guys to fuck off and write what you like.

You're right... I'm not much of a planner, but I do have an idea of what I want to do with this story

It'd the standard 'Harry gets powerfull and fills Voldemort' but I want to go somewhere else with how Merlin helps Harry out. Harry is the descendant of Merlin, but there was magic before Merlin's time... and Merlin's ancestor is going to play a big role in this story. I mean Merlin invented modern Magic, but surely he must know of the magic that existed before that?

Honestly, with the pole, i just wanted to find out what the popular demand was and lead off from there. But now I am disregarding the pole as it seems to attract more negative then positive attention. Besides, I already know what power Harry's going to have, and it's not listed anywere on that pole.

I know it seems cliche, but hang tight, I really want to go outside the box and make something a little different. And honestly, I just like writing Merlin, as he's an unknown person, and therefore eligible for toying with.

Alright then. At first it seemed just completely generic and you were looking to merely write by popular opinion. But at least you do have some plans and specifics in mind.

It does ring familiar a little to one fic though. Which I'd recommend reading if you haven't yet, just to see how someone else did something similar.

Harry Potter & the Heir of Ancients by anon2. Super old ancient powerful wizard from way back. Merlin was his heir, then Gryffindor, now Harry. If memory serves Harry supered over the top more than the rest of them, but still a popular early super!Harry fic that got abandoned over a year ago.

 

That was somewhat similar to what I had in mind... But Gryffindor's not really related at all to Merlin in my story...
