I was watching halfway through reading deathly hallows when it occurred to me that the Deathnote (from the anime, 'Deathnote') pretty much makes someone a master of death.

So,I was thinking of writing a story in which the Deathnote is one of the deathly hallows.
I was thinking that Harry gets the book somewhere around the age of 10, and learns to use it. Later, when he gets the invisibility cloak, it transforms the Deathnote, or perphaps when the Deathnote comes near Dumbledore(elder wand).
It's also possible that Harry uses magic to control a Shinigami(death gods, and original owners of the deathnote), or something like that.
(Also, human characters from the anime, like Yagami Light or L won't be brought in the story.)

Though I like the idea, I don't think it has any substantial plot.

So, Suggestions?

Ok, I'll openly acknowledge that the point of fanfiction is to change things. But when it comes to something which has been specifically designated as doing something or being something (such as the Deathly Hallows) you just shouldn't change it. Does anyone say that the Philosophers Stone is actually a cursed diamond which kills anyone who touches it? No, they keep the PS as is, and introduce the cursed diamond.

So in other words, introduce this...death note thing if you wish, but don't replace the Deathly Hallows with it. Either involve the Deathly Hallows as is, or ignore them, but don't change them.

 

Point taken, but I wasn't replacing the deathly hallows with any item,
I was introducing it as another item that being so similar to the hallows
themselves, reacted to them.
But anyway, I had no plot in mind when I thought of this, just a vague idea.

 

I'd like to see the Note fall into the hands of someone who thought it was a diary, and the first thing they wrote was their own name at the top.

Most amusing would be Harry writing his name down on the Note and then using the Deathly Hallows to hide away from it when he figures out what it does. I wonder what the Shinigami would do when they found out what was going on.

 

Well, the annoying thing is, the Death Note wouldn't actually backfire like that unless, for some reason, Harry was thinking of his own face while writing his name.

 

...Aww, damn, I forgot about the face thing. With the Eye trades it was pretty much forgotten later on.

 

I suppose that is one way to override that little technicality...I prefer the idea of an overly Narcissistic Harry - one that constantly thinks about himself, and his features - doing it, myself.
