I think you could be a magical animagus (no im not a super!harry H/G dude) but I don't think Harry would be a phoenix either. That's just silly, I'm thinkin more on the lines of a basilisk or a hippocampus.

 

Phoenix is a pretty tired idea, but the whole surviving death as a baby gives me enough reason not to completely discount a story that uses it. The whole non-magical only is primarily a fanon thing. Of course, you can always cheat and say surviving the killing curse is impossible too, yada yada yada.

Personally, I think you can make your fic's Harry fit almost anything. Most non-magical forms are almost too boring for me. For canon!Harry I think my first story still has the most fitting magical form for him I've seen: A Snidget. Magical because he's dumb-lucky, and overall a bit of fricking wuss. Hides from people, flies like a mofo. And Cho couldn't catch him if she tried.

 

well snigdets cant be that fast in that case? If they used them in the hold days on old slow brooms, then snigdets couldnt be that fast cuase you gotta be able to catch em..

. Anyhow, I can pretty much stomach any animagus form in any fic - unless its MultiAnimagus or whatever stupid name authors next come up with for be able to turn into any animal that has ever existed.

Are you fucking kidding? Ron has about as much power as hybrid car. If it were possible for him to be an animagus, which I highly doubt, it would have to be like a chimp or some other such simian because he doesn't have what it takes to change that much.

 

I think Harry should be a spider just to annoy the hell out of Ron

 

Harry's affinity with spiders is rarely used or even mentioned. It is pointed out he made no attempt to harm them when he lived in the cupboard. But I think the real reason for that is that spiders just seem too alien to really fit any human's personality, what with all the eyes and the wierd mouth shape, etc.

Besides, the temptation would be too great to essentially turn him into Spiderman....

 

As far as i can tell from the books is that you are not able to pick your form at all

 

i don't know about Harry being a spider but i most likely feel that he should have a form that A) no-one will tink about in the wizarding worl and
B) a form that will help him not only his fight with old snkae face but, something that will help him later on as well
