Oh my God, wow. But how does it shrink them down? And how does it supply air, water and food? Or are they placed in some sort of stasis?

This thread caught my eye so I've bypassed the intro (for now, and which seems excessive) and mention a thought that occurred to me. Its been mentioned that vanishing is possible, and I believe that in DH Minerva answered exactly what happens to materials vanished, they become apart of the Ethereal energies (If I'm remember correctly) or simply cease to exist.

Why must the materials themselves that comprise their clothes, armor, weapons and wands be shrunken or become apart of the animagus? It could just as easily become magical energy that is stored within say the soul of the person in question when they transform. In the end its just magic but in this case the Star Trek version of teleportation works as inspiration for this particular idea. Take of it what you will or not at all, all we can really do is postulate until JKR gives us the Encyclopedia so the masses can finally have something new to read related to the HP universe.

Matter to Energy conversion and back?

As for learning Parsletongue (I think I just butchered the word...) and being a Parslemouth (Again... I know) are two separate things. Even if Ron had a teacher, something strikes me that the magical element eases the translation of snake language so it sounds like whatever the wizard's native tongue is, it would be next to impossible for him to learn all the words and in the proper order because it itself its a completely inhuman language with not a single bearing or basis with any human language derivative (most likely). We can attribute to Dumbledore knowing it simply because he's an overpowered old fart but being able to speak it and really Speak it are two different things and would require a magical element that Harry had to make it something reasonable to use rather than something used only to open one door.

That's my thoughts anyways, nice to meet you all.
