It has been a long, long, long time since I was able to post and it took me even longer than that to finally get up from off my arse and start putting the archives back together. Sorry about that. I had some various issues #@%& coming down on my head all at once and wasn't able to make the time needed to get the archives back together.

As it was it still took me nearly forty-eight hours to pull together all the files, but I managed it! It gives me great pleasure to announce the most recent edition of the Dark Lord Potter Reccomends Archive, with a copy of every fic mentioned in the library....

Just as a reminder I prefer to use Rapidshare.de for my filesharing needs and it can occasionally be confusing for people unfamilar with its workings, so the HOWTO below should be read for anyone new to the archives.

I'd like to take a moment and mention that the following fics are included
in the archive, and in some cases this is the only source for these stories:

73 megs of FF? That's a big archive, haven't read some of these so I'll give it a shot.

I aim to please! I just wish I knew what happened to some of the lost fics and I wish I knew of where the writers of certain fics went after they were booted from FF.nazi... Some of those were really promising and I'd hate to think they may have just given up altogether during the last purge.

Heh...Now that is certainly a good question! I figure I'll either re-earn it or I'll simply have to work my way up the rungs as best I can for other things. IIRC the moderators actually had to hand code a special title into the forum in order to get away with that, if it's too much work to force vBulletin into doing it again I doubt they'll bother with it. At least I've still got the nifty sigpic DGD made me with the title!

Some of these fics only exist in the above archive. Others can be requested at the HPRecycleBin, so all in all I'd have to say this is the best value for your needs...It's the one stop shop for your DLP.net needs!

I thought 73MB was large also...until I Unrared/Uncompressed it.

Which it comes out to be 551MB.

Yeah, it's quite a bit bigger than you'd think! Behold the miracle that is RAR compression (using solid archives) and even though I've seen some radical compression done with other formats, I keep going back to RAR as the best in its class while still managing to be user friendly!

Thanks for that! I'll probably add it to the next archive and add any new fics that are placed in the archive on to the list. For anyone new to the archive, the fics I listed specifically are merely ones that no longer seemed to be available from the links given in the original threads, but which I still had a copy of. The archive contains every fic listed in the library, except the three I listed in my first post as 'missing' or LOST.

Bearing that in mind, the following fics are listed in the archive with a small text file that simply notes they are LOST and I do not know where to find copies of them:

Those three fics are not actually in the archive. If anyone has a copy, I'd appreciate an email or a post to the HPRecycleBin with the files. As it is now, in some cases DarkLordPotter.net is the only listing for some of these fics in Google because they were removed from FF.nazi and their authors either had usernames that cannot be searched for or simply did not bother to keep writing...

Great archive, only nitpick is the lack of summaries for stories, to know whether or not you want to read the story. Not a big deal, it's just a tad annoying to search DLP/FF.net for every story canidate.

You're welcome. But really, the idea behind the archive is not to remove from the equation, but to provide a local copy for all the fics in the library so you can read a few comments and decide if you want to read the fic or not. I never intended to use the Archive as a means by which to replace DLP.net! And really, I think any attempt at making an 'index' with a summary for each fic would die a miserable death as each fan of various fics were disgruntled about the choices of words used to describe their favorites...

OTOH, if anyone wants to sit down and toss together something that works, more power to you--you have the same files I do at the moment!
