Sliders - This deals with traveling to alternate universes.

Warehouse 13 - Famous and dangerous object throughout history are stored and kept safe at Warehouse 13 (Lewis Carroll's mirror, Poe's pen etc)

Eureka - A government operated town solely dedicated to advancing science, and the average joe sheriff stuck in the middle.

Sherlock - This was created by the guy that runs the creative team of Doctor Who. Modern Sherlock Holmes.

Everything else I watch has been said.

The Good Wife is incredibly well done. Check it out. Theres a reason why its been snatching up awards left and right. Its got an amazing cast and pretty good plot. The first episode wasn't really anything spectacular, but the rest of season 1 trucks along very nicely.

I second Lie to Me but only the first season, I didn't watch after that so I have no opinion.

Adding my votes for The Wire (Best TV show ever made), Community (Hilarioos), and Burn Notice (Pretty formulaic but highly engrossing). These NEED to be watched.

Decided to start with Smallville, and I have to say, its very refreshing. Also, have become major Chloe fan as well as Chloe/Clark shipper. I feel more enthusiastic about this single television show than I have about most shows in two years.

Edit: I am breaking down right now, watching the red kryptonite episode. Tom Welling cannot play a bad-boy to play his life, which suits the episode rather well.

Only thing I can think of that hasnt been recced is Life on Mars, (the British one) the sequal series Ashes to Ashes is either love it or hate it and clears up the loose ends.

Edit: Also My Family is a brilliant British comedy, especally if you like snarky sarcastic humour.

Last season or two of Smallville is making the show a little better, but as this is the last season, I don't know if it's enough to make the middle seasons any better.

The new Avengers cartoon is really good, on par with Batman or Justice League.

    No True Blood yet? Really?

The only shows I really watch are True Blood, Entourage and The Office.

I'm going to pull something really obscure out here, since pretty much everything else recent has been mentioned: Kids in the Hall. It's an old Canadian sketch show from the earlier 90's, but it's the best I've seen in the genre besides Monty Python. Far surpasses SNL.

I have no idea if it's available to torrent, but there are plenty of clips on youtube to enjoy. Here's some clips to start. Reruns are on sometimes on the Comedy Network for any Canadians out there.

    Fag

    Bobby VS. Satan

    Sausages

Really different shit, especially the Sausages sketch.

Do it. Plot-wise, the show is absolutely crap - no two ways about it.

On the plus side, however, they completely give up on anything resembling realistic casting, and stack it with even more beautiful people. It's like they point-blank refuse to show ugly women, anywhere, in any scene.

I really want to watch True Blood, but the recent vampire bandwagon has soured me to attempting :-/

Eastbound and Down. It's a comedy on HBO about washed up baseball player Kenny Powers(Danny McBride) having his life spin out of control and being forced to return to his home town and take a job as a substitute P.E. teacher after the I.R.S. takes all his shit. The show follows his downward spiral into rock-bottom and his inevitable attempts to rise back into the Majors.

It's one of the funniest shows on T.V. right now and the only show that I actually go out of my way to see. The show also stars Will Ferrell and Craig Robinson in recurring rolls as Powers' antagonists. Check it out I highly reccomend it and give it a 5/5.

Edit: I'll add that the first season is only 6 half-hour episodes so it's really worth it to at least check it out 'cause it won't be a major time-sink for you.

Hung is very good and funny.

Breaking Bad (I know already mentioned but I second the motion)

Rake (this one is Australian and very good)

QI (How come this hasn't been mentioned? Come on! It's Stephen Fry for pity's sake!)

True Blood is good if you don't mind the rather ridiculous plot in the second and third seasons (just don't try to read the books, they're absolute shit one of the few examples where a TV adaptation is better than the book)

The Gruen Transfer is pretty good as well. This one is all about advertising and allt he different tricks very clever and funny.

The Hungry Beast is :awesome Nuff said.

And I'm gonna put my reputation on the line and recommend 16 and Pregnant. The funniest show ever, it is so full of lulz you wouldn't believe.

    That's about it.

I was considering posted about Rake. It's an excellent show, 8 hour-long episodes of awesome, featuring some very talented actors. It's about a Laywer, Cleaver Green and his rather lulzy life.

Everyone, go and watch this now.
