In the story it's an aura that some special people can form around themselves that stops pretty much all conventional magic. Some make stronger auras than others. The really special can form that aura into blades and use them offensively.

I also forgot to mention in my last post that Harry has taken to using pop cultures memes in his jokes now. We've gone past scraping the bottom of the barrel and actually digging into the ground now.

 

Congratulations are in order: it took 47 chapters for a character to seriously acknowledge that something was clearly wrong with Harry.

The characters' behaviour is still incredibly jarring for me. Nothing new. This issue kept me from taking the story seriously, and it just keeps getting worse. Additionally, the sheer amount of repetition is killing me. Every single chapter, without fail, there's that same description and that same piece of dialogue and that same joke which we've seen no less than 30 times before. It's not doing the story any favours, imo.

The humour now makes me want to punch the screen, and the "romance" (even without the smut) is just cringe.

I'm a hatereader at this point.

Haven't seen this fic mentioned yet - I'll Steal You

I'm only about 10 chapters in so far but its been a lot better than I was expecting given the basic title and summary. It a very readible fic, easy to digest in small bites. Has good banter, both characters are just the right amount of sassy, and I think thats my favorite part. Plot isn't particularly tight, which is fine as the story isn't spending more words on the stations of canon than canon itself. 10 chapters in and its gone from y1 to y3 already. The one thing I'm not a huge fan of is POV switches, as there's a fine line between story telling and reaction farming. I like it when it's summer penpal letters, but the story might be going beyond that, idk yet.
