JKR has said that the nature of the plot will mean some people will loathe Deathly Hallows.

"As an off-camera film-maker offers his congratulations, Rowling, 41, says: "Thank you...yeah, you don't know, it might be rubbish. Some people will loathe it, they will absolutely loathe it. For some people to love it, other people must loathe it. That's just in the nature of the plot."


For some people to love it, others must loathe it. It sounds like the bluddy prophecy.... It is inevitable that the people who are destined to loathe it will be us here at DLP.

I'm worried, if this thing ends with a Harry/Ginny marriage and lots of ginger kids ill burn the book. I hope it leans in the darker direction and we all at DLP love it, after the shambles of HBP it is our turn.

You can never have "universal approval", something Dumbledore said(and, by extention, Rowling) in GoF. I think that's what she was trying to say. Honestly, I can stomach the H/G if they have good battle scenes and Ron or Hermione dies. As long as that happens I'll be happy. I don't know about the rest of DLP, but some BOOMs and a golden-trio-no-more will put me in a good mood.

 

I'm very cautiously optimistic. I'm hoping the H/G shippers are the loathers and H/L/Hr shippers like myself get shocked and amazed. I know it won't happen, but I'm still in my delusional fantasy land. Lalalalalalala can't hear you! Lalalala...

 

Oh, I totally agree. Not everyone is going like it, but for her to think some fans will loathe it is quite extreme.

 

It simply means the ships, I think. A lot of people are really into ships. Having ships finalized, basically, will piss off a lot of people. But it'll make a lot of other people happy too.

 

I think she meant ships as well. If you go on some of the forums on portkey or siye you will find just how badly it 'hurts' people when JKR doesn't go with their ship. It is the most pathetic load of rubbish I have ever heard. But I am a Luna/Harry fan all the way- as long as she is truly crazy as hell. But I am not so crazy about it that I would dislike JKR for making it H/Hr or H/G. I would just have a lovely time- in either event- writing fanfiction where Harry leaves his wife for some reason and ends up with Luna. No reason to hate what she does with the ships as long as she writes a plot that is good for fanfiction.

 

I am sure there is bound to be people who liked it and others who did not. Its not like she can please everybody. I however hope that Ginny and Ron both die that way the book and will be good.
