I was disapointed to see Shado die though, I was hoping she was still alive.

What I mean is, originally Barry got his powers from a random bolt of lightning that interacted with some chemicals in his lab to give him his powers. Here in Arrow, he gets his powers from a bolt of lightning as well, but the lightning is explained as coming from a malfunctioning particle accelerator rather than just some freak weather occurrence. I wasn't expecting them to still go with a bolt of lightning at all with the particle accelerator thing.

Like I said, this feels far less flimsy than the original origin, but it's still a little too close to the original for me. I mean, why did the lightning bolt hit him over anything else? Was that chain he was holding acting as a lightning rod or something? It still has an element that makes it a little too random, or convenient. But then again, getting superpowers usually does seem kind of convenient, like Peter Parker just happening to be the one bit by a mutant spider. So maybe that sounds weird.

 

After Slade's dying revelation, it was pretty obvious she was going to die, and in a way Slade could misconstrue it as Ollie's fault.

Speaking of Ollie's fault, what in the hell was he thinking sending Lance after Cyrus? I realize you were coming down off some rat poison, but that is not okay.

Hmmm, Sara was obviously away during the final Ollie vs Slade island bit. Any guesses?

 

He told him to take trained men, with guns with him and to shoot to kill. Its just that cops in tv that aren't in a cop show aren't allowed to be good at their jobs.

 

To be fair, one of them was a traitor and Cyrus Gold was basically unkillable.

 

I basically saw Barry's lab (wherever that is) as being a massive lightning rod, personally. Him holding on to some random metal chain* doesn't help.

Also I have no real issues with Felicity. It doesn't feel anywhere near as forced as it did with Laurel. The actors seem to have real chemistry, so that helps a lot, even if the dialogue gets a bit silly at times. I just hope they continue their trend of not wasting everyone's time with that. There is no real "will they, won't they" here, it's pretty obvious that it's going to happen, so just...get it over with, I guess.

*Did we ever see what that's connected to?

 

The show does keep getting better. It has to slow down soon right?

Sarah has to leave the island in a super dangerous or dead state because Oliver does think she's dead before he unmasked her in Starling.

I'm assuming Miracle has the same effect on everybody? Roy isn't going to just get like super healing powers but will be full blown fucking hulk. Cuz that would be a decent way to deal with it without OPing him.

The Slade reveal was awesome. Flash scenes worked for me. Overall an A for the mid season finale.

Anybody have any idea when it's coming back for the rest of the season?

FEdit: Might be worth checking out the preview for the return episode, answers a few questions without being super spoilery.

 

Looked like it was something used to open the skylight, like he wanted to get onto the roof or just open it up to take a look at the sky. Could have been made clearer, I agree, but that's the impression I got.

 

Well they can always show his origin again when he gets his show. It might be more clear when we understand the context of the building he was in.

Although I am pretty sure he was using the chain to close the skyline, it was raining into the building and he was too preoccupied with the particle accelerator to do something before.

 

Okay, a few things. I read a bunch of comments before I saw the episode, so I'm left feeling this...

Why all the Felicity hate? From the comments I was expecting something horrifically awful to have happened, but... basically nothing happened? No huge bitch out moment, no yelling, screaming, kicking. Nothing. Did I miss something?

Shado dying sucked. Slade reveal was awesome. Injecting Ollie with rat poison? Really? We get that coumadin is rat poison, but that was just dumb.

And I actually laughed out loud at the very end when they did the whole reveal of his mask thing -- it makes absolutely no difference haha. Mask or paint, no difference. But that's a superhero trope in and of itself.

Anyways, shows still awesome.

 

Basically the line about Oliver being on fantasy island... after pretty much everything she knows about his time there is that it wasn't pleasant. Worse, she says that after he admits to be hallucinating.

I don't dislike her, but that line rubbed me the wrong way.

 

Just caught up with this. Chalk me down for another who has no issues with Felicity. In fact, I thought her fantasy island comment was pretty funny.

Show remains fucking incredibly awesome. I honestly don't know how it does it, each and every episode somehow is better than the last. It must plateau soon... surely.

I also like that I have absolutely no background about the universe this is set in. Means everything is a shock to me. (evil slade came out of fucking nowhere for me. Well, until the start of the episode anyway)

 

I just realised, Slade is going to go after oliver's family, so that might draw Malcolm back as much as he is a nut job, it does seem he would fight to protect his daughter. So I am betting we will see the two archers teaming up to protect Thea.

 

Oh yes that would be amazing, hell we can even through in Roy into the mix and we would have Black, Green and Red arrow together fighting deathstroke.

 

I almost want a 1-on-1 between Barrowman and Manu Bennett more than that, because man that would be such an amazing sequence.

Adding Amell to the mix would be neat too, but really I just want to see Barrowman and Bennett interact.

 

Seems plausible. Id much prefer Deathstroke teaming up with Ollie though tbh.

 

I wonder if we will see some of Deathstroke's kids, i mean we are seeing speedy/red arrow, so it makes sense for some of the bad guys to get minions/sidekicks.
