At this point, Roy exists only to get his ass kicked to show that the enemy is skilled but ultimately not as skilled as Oliver when he inevitably lays the smack-down.

So I just started watching the show and probably all of this has been said before, but I just have to get it out:

    1. Hhahaha Harry Dresden.

    2. The plot is beyond retarded. This show can be used as the definition of cartoonishly evil. I literally burst out laughing when they had the room full of chinese ninjas kill a bunch of people than let Merlin live so he could go outside and be taken out by the sniper. Also when Dresdens daughter was kidnapped and Arrow killed like twenty people to get to the kidnapper and stop Dresden from killing him "coz killing is wrong m'kay"

    3. Immunity to bullets is the best superpower.

    4. I would rather prefer to watch a series about what happened on the island. Would be much more interesting than the poor mans Batman we got going on.

    5. I'm still watching for some reason.

The whole Harry Dresden thing is more confusing than funny, especially when you then say Merlin instead of Merlyn. I thought you were in the wrong thread until you finally said Arrow.

Also, what are you talking about? I don't remember Oliver having any qualms about killing people in season one.

And yes, the first season was decent, but not nearly as good as the other seasons, and yes, the island was the best part of the first season.

Oliver had no problem killing bad guys, he just didn't want anyone else to be killing any bad guys.

That's a real crux of the first season, before he takes the nom de plume 'arrow' instead of the hood. You can say it was done poorly, but the idea was he had to regain his humanity to be a hero instead of just the best thug on the streets. Clumsy at times, but probably one of the better representation of a comic book on tv. Most stories boil down to the characters struggle with their dual nature and what it means to put on a mask and save people. in real life I'd call it insanity.

What is the second season like? I've just finished the first but I've got other series I need to catch up on (GoT, The Walking Dead) and I'm wondering if it's worth pushing it to the front of the queue.

So I figured you-know-who got written off because of the character-relevant show that's in the works elsewhere, but you'd think they'd have just killed him off instead of sending him on a bus. Also, that death scene. Dat death scene.

What I have read is that Colton, the actor who plays Arsenal, has been well sought after ever since Teen Wolf. When they cast him as Roy in Season 1 they didn't if they would keep him, but he liked the show and signed on until Season 3.

He is going to be in San Andreas with the Rock, so he is either going to transition into a movie star or he is going to be a lead in a show when pilot season comes around.

They kept him alive, because he is willing to guest star when he is available and if things don't go well he can come back as a regular in Season 5.

I swear, Ra's al Ghul gets more badass every scene he's in. Matt Nable has really made the character his own.

I do like him as Ra's, I just wish the season focused on him as the antagonist like season 2 did Deathstroke.

Rather than have the Brick storyline, they should have had the League searching for Malcolm when Oliver was thought dead, Komodo should have been a contractor hunting Malcolm's associates looking for him as a workaround Oliver's ultimatum of no League in his city, etc.

What I'm wondering about is how on earth Lance can get away with keeping Roy with the gen pop of the prison he was in. Even before the first attack, it should have been obvious to anyone that the Arrow wasn't going to have a fun time in prison -- it'd be worse than sending a police officer into the fray.

But sure, they didn't think, and he got attacked the first time. After that he should have been kept away from the prisoners so something like that didn't happen again -- not put him in a line with criminals all around him just waiting for a chance to gut him. I can't see Laurel letting her father or the police department get off that easily after Roy "died" while in custody.

Which makes it even more aggravating that Lance was so self-righteous and smug when he told Oliver that it was his fault.

I agree whole heartedly, but it's a precedent set in damn near every superhero goes to prison story line.

Side note, the Atom is doing nothing for me. I like Ray as a character but I think this tv production might have bitten off more than they can chew.

Lance might've been trying to force Oliver's hand by putting Roy in danger. He's a son of a bitch like that.

I'm confused. Ra's kills Thea forcing Oliver to use the Lazarus Pit, and then Oliver is supposed to be honorable and stay true to his word?

What got me was that Ra's was so incensed about League blood being spilled after he had murdered the only family Oliver had left. Logic doesn't add up.

This is the only episode since the middle of season 1 that I've not really enjoyed watching. :\

Well... then what? If he does renege, Ra's will simply kill Thea again, and this time let her stay dead. The point is that the price of refusing is too high for Oliver to bear. This way his friends and family are safe.

It does kind of speak to the man's abilities as an assassin that he can just kill Thea at will if Oliver goes back on his word, regardless of any attempts made to protect her.
