Give him a few episodes, I reckon he might get sick of her too. He's more worried about dealing with Tommys death/making him proud of him and stuff, I don't think he'd put up with her self righteous bullshit for long.

 

Ollie's pretty weird when it comes to Laurel, always has been and probably always will be, at least a little bit. I wouldn't be surprised if that conflict only balances out once Laurel changes.

Anyway, good episode. A League of Assassins angle for Black Canary is interesting. Still think it's probably Laurel's sister, if only because it's a given that Laurel's going to have to be connected to her in some way. And they directly namedropped Ra's al Ghul, so there's that. Maybe he'll actually show up, though if so I'm wary of them making him a Green Arrow villain when he's a pretty big Batman villain. Firefly and Huntress? Sure, you can loan them out. Ra's ranks too high for that though. It'd be nice if they could allude to Batman too. By the way, is it so hard to say "Raysh" instead of "Razz?"

They finally started calling him "the Arrow" instead of "the Hood," which is good. I'm almost willing to bet that next season they'll start calling him Green Arrow. Maybe to differentiate him and Roy if/when Roy becomes Red Arrow?

Guess I was right about Black Canary using a sonic weapon instead of a metahuman ability. Probably saving the powers for big leaguers like the Flash.

Apparently there was an Amazo reference in the last few minutes, but I didn't catch it. They're bringing in Dr. Ivo soon so it's to be expected I suppose. Though whether Amazo will be a superpower-copying android or some other thing is up in the air.

 

I'm not necessarily saying it's a flaw but Ollie being willing to kill people who got in his way was what drew me into the series in the first place as I've never been a big Green Arrow fan.

 

Will there be super powers on the show? Or will they stick to stuff like this - making the powers into technology?

 

This was a super good episode. For whatever reason, even knowing this show's writers like to throw your expectations out of whack, I still expected them to drag out Laurel's realization for if not the whole season, at least half. But nope, episode fucking three. Good on them.

Then there's Quentin being an absolute bro throughout the episode, the shit with the Black Canary, and the island, and the ending, and holy shit. This fucking show, man.

 

I would be extremely pissed if there weren't any superpowers on the show, especially for the Flash. That said I think they should be used sparingly to increase their effect.

I once again seriously question the wisdom in having superheroes kill in these recent adaptations. I'm not saying killing is never justified or anything, and again I'm not against what happened in Man of Steel in principle, but it invites shit like this. Superheroes shouldn't be used to sate people's bloodlust.

 

If I remember right the first Black Canary doesn't have any superpowers so they could just be sticking to canon at this point.

 

This show continues to be truly excellent.

Looks like we'll see more of Lance/Oli double teaming it up.

Laurels finally figured out it wasn't his fault, although her mentioning Oli telling her to get out of the glades makes it look like he mightve known about the quake machine because of Moira.

Canary's origins looks like theyre gonna be awesome, well as long as Sara Lance is nothing to do with it anyway.

 

Did it bother anybody how little effect getting shot in the shoulder had on the Dollmaker in the first confrontation?

Also, it strains my suspension of disbelief that Lance doesn't know that Ollie is the Arrow when they are casually walking down a hall together. Before it was believable because the Arrow kept a respectable distance between himself and the Lances and was always in shadows.

Now? Not so much.

 

I thought he was wearing body armor.

As for the hidden identity, the hood covers a good deal of his face and makes a decent amount of shadow. An actual mask instead of just facepaint would help a lot though. Who thought just giving him eye paint was a good idea anyway? He's always had a mask, and they gave one to Black Canary.

 

It's entirely possible that Quentin does know that Ollie is the Arrow, now, and just hasn't mentioned it.

I'm not sure how much I like that theory, though. It seems like the kind of thing that should come up, considering Ollie's history with Quentin.

 

I got this impression too. I think he does know. That it's sort of some unspoken thing now. But still, it is a bit much for suspension of disbelief.

 

He wouldn't have talked to the Arrow about his daughter if he knew that. Unless we're going off the assumption he didn't glean his identity till later.

Given the way the Black Canary character apparently operates in the comics (as I understand it), that character was always going to be Sarah.

The big thing with it, though, is that she's probably going to die so Laurel can take her place. That might not necessarily happen this season, but it will probably happen.
