This is one of my favorite fics right now, but your mileage may vary. The author has two other independent-Harry fics, one in which he goes to America, and one in which he stays at Hogwarts. Those two stories didn't really do it for me, but the author's popularity (and the pairing) caused me to give this fic a shot.

I like that the story moves from a post-DH setting without trying to incorporate everything wildly invented for that book. The story starts after Harry and friends have completed a "seventh" year at Hogwarts in which Harry has had nightmares and little sleep, and the Malfoys and other former Death Eaters have laid low. From there, Harry and others have to make their own way and decide to nip a new "dark rising" in the bud, so to speak, instead of the way Dumbledore let it fester.

Anyway, in the interest of full disclosure, the action is a bit sparse, especially right now (chapter 27 is just up), but the politics, chess-game maneuvering and gamesmanship are very good, especially on the part of Harry and Bill. The new Order of the Phoenix is sort of caught between the new Ministry and many of the old bad guys, and things look to be heating up at this point in the story.

I searched DLP for this story with no luck, so I felt I could maybe contribute something. For those who hate Ginny, she and Harry aren't together, and his relationship with Hermione puts a strain on everyone, at least early on. I have a Harry/Hermione affinity, so I'm a little biased, but their relationship is about 1% of the story, so H/Hr haters can deal.

Problem #2: what's the plot? I'm confused... is there any driving force to the story? Is it just a seventh year story post-DH?
