Okay, I'm looking for a story that begins on Harry's first trip to Diagon Alley. In it, Harry runs into Cedric Diggory in Madam Malkin's and Cedric befriends him because he looks a bit overwhelmed and lost. Cedric ends up taking him to the Ministry to get him away from the Dursleys and they swear blood brotherhood to ensure he never has to return. Does anyone recognize this? It had really long chapters and hasn't been updated in the past few months...

Probably this, but based on the description you gave, I almost wonder if it's worth reading. I suppose I could give it a shot, but . . .

Here's a rec for anyone who does: skip chapter 1.

    EDIT:

Okay, I've "read" through the whole thing. I say "read" because I had to skip a LOT of paragraphs which interrupted the flow of the story and contributed nothing to it. It was like the author had diarrhea of the keyboard, and covered most of each chapter with a nasty, splattery mess in between far-flung chunks of shit.

It moved FAR too slowly, and with the current number of chapters, I would have expected Harry to be at the Halloween feast by now, not STILL in the summer before getting to Hogwarts.

    Harry cries. Ugh.

Still, the idea itself, put into the hands of a decent author, would be fairly interesting, and there are far too few Hufflepuff!Harry stories out there. 1/5

Thanks for locating it. :) In my ten+ years of fanficcing, I've learnt to be a bit... tolerant of diarrhea of the keyboard. Trust me, this has nothing on the mental masturbation the Borg Queen and her followers espoused over in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. One notable instance had 500K+ of going down a flight of five-six stairs. The more circular, angsty, and long winded the introspection, the better they liked it.

Tell me about it. And I'm much more tolerant of an eleven-year-old boy crying than I would be of a fifteen or sixteen year old boy in tears...
