As you all probably have figured out, I'm a huge Avatar fan and I'm pretty sure that there are some Avatar fans on this site. Well a couple of weeks ago M. Night Shamalayn announced some of the cast from his live action Avatar movie. Here's the article:

I don't know a ton about Airbender, but while some of the characters aren't overtly Asian-looking, an all white cast is pretty fucked up. Jesse McCartney being cast is an female tween audience draw, full stop; even though he started his career as an actor, he was never that good.

Actually Avatar was based upon Asian and Inuit cultures. So for him to have a all white cast is pretty messed up.

 

I think most people that have watched like four episodes realize that. But Aang can easily be mistaken as white. Since well, he looks white. But still, Avatar is the smex and should not be ruined by the likes of M. Night. Maybe if he went back to making good movies like Unbreakable and Sixth Sense.

But then again a Avatar movie would be fail no matter who was directing it. Leave it as a TV show dammit.

If a movie was going to be made, make in animated, the way it should be. I sense cheap effects and bad acting ahead with this live action, M. Night BS. Something tells me this will end as badly as the Dragonball movie.

 

Hey! M. Night's last movie was really scary. I sometimes get a really bad case of hay fever so this movie was actually terrifying to me.

Same here. My dad had every Jean-Claude Van Damm movie ever, so I loved it. In retrospect, however, it's an hour and a half of flaming hot shit.

If they can't find any Asian-American actors to be the cast of Avatar, then they should just invest in a computerized rendition.
