Not sure if Harry sleeping with Aurora like that would be considered making a deal. Unless Harry made some deal unwittingly like that, but I can't see a Sidhe disguising themselves to trick someone into a making a deal. I get the feeling that would go against what they believe in. Old rules and all that.

 

Who's to say harry would even be bound to a sidhe if he was unwittingly entered into a contract.

I'm going under the theory that harry's using a different brand of magic, and its the sidhes and dresden verse brand magic that forces them to capitulate to the deals.

Harry's magic requires some other factors to bind him... ie, a magical goblet, fiery handshakes, writing your name on spelled contracts...

that kind of stuff.
Frankly a harry that could ignore those rules would be kind of awesome.

Hmm...

If a Sidhe cannot lie, and Aurora told Harry that her name is Dawn, does this mean that it's true?

Also, I guess disguising yourself would count as a lie too.

 

Aurora is the latin word for dawn, so I expect she could use that as a loophole to say she hadn't technically lied about her name, just translated it from Latin to English. IIRC the disguise shouldn't be an issue since Sidhe can be deceptive, they just can't speak direct lies.

I don't think Harry would be in too much danger of having unwittingly made a deal with Aurora by having a one night stand with her, but Aurora has gotten a strong link to him that will make it much easier to drag him into further involvement, especially if the sex produced any "side effects."

Eh, the thing that this story hasn't sold me on yet is Aiden. At the moment I wish he would keel over and die. He irritates me, not only because of his boring character and annoyingly secretive/mysterious nature, but (mainly) because he steals valuable story time from the stuff I am interested in.

Now we're going somewhere, (mainly Summer Knight) I can't help but wonder the manner of Potter and Dresden’s first encounter. I suspect their relationship will be somewhat antagonistic for a while; Dresden will likely be perturbed about the strange young wizard with entirely unknown powers.

Should be good stuff.

 

Why does nailing a sidhe mean you owe them? I mean, maybe they owe you if it was good enough. I seriously doubt that Harry would have, in his past life, had a conversation that went along the lines of "o btw, I will let you rail me on the kitchen table, but you'll owe me (shakes finger)"

... on second thought, i think i've heard that before.


I noticed how Water Mage put that line in about how easy it was for Fae and even mortals of this world to tear the fabric of spacetime into other dimensions. But that opens up a whole can of worms of interdimensional headaches.

 

The risk is that he entered a deal by unwittingly agreeing to something while he was banging her >_>. Or maybe before/afterwards. Word games are the entire basis for the Sidhe's culture, considering they couldn't base it on lies like us.

I am just wondering if anything about the new chapter is known. We know that Water Mage plans out this story quite a bit so is he stuck on something or is RL just getting in the way.

Nice work, though I think Talos is a little reckless as he fights (I'd think if he were a champion, he'd not be so gung-ho about rushing into a fight with someone he doesn't know the capabilities of, I mean, Harry could have apparated and skewered him on that first attack, if he were't glamored).

I can't wait for more.

 

Good update. Talos was a bit over the top in the fight, but it was easily ignored. The Fairie politics was done quite well without going overboard.
