I've played/modded around 15 games here. If anyone cares enough to want to read up on my style, see here, and here. I haven't read up any full games here, only a mini, so I will be out of touch with some of the meta/everyone's play-styles. The obvious differences I've been able to see between the fora are a seeming-preference for substantially more role-dense games then at RB, a focus on open rather then closed setups, and longer but less content-intense threads (RB days are 48hrs, which is probably the principle difference there).

I would describe myself as a middling tier town player, and a upper-middle tier scum player, at least in the meta/playgroup I am used to, but of course on a different fora you can probably bump that down significantly.

I would be posting less then normal until halfway through to the end of November (exams), but after that I should have a significant amount of time for the foreseeable future to devote to the game. Note that this is less then normal for me, and RB features very intense games (consider that WW27, the first game I linked featured 12 players that lasted roughly 2 weeks, and managed to rake up 850 posts, most of which are quite long), so I would still be expected to check the thread several times, and respond to at least some of it, even on the most intense days.

I don't know much about Batman aside from the Nolan films, so don't expect much (or any!) roleplay.


Tldr? If I can, I'd like to play, and I am quite unlikely to flake out.
This is probably excessive for a signup, but it's info I would have to give anyway, so why not now?


Also, a question:
The comment about the Penguin/Bane's picking their faction is a little unclear - are they picking the powers they want in their faction, or the players they want? I read players initially, but powers would seem to make a lot more sense.

Ika's filler thing wasn't a real game. It was just a time waster before Lexi's Choose Your Side. If you're looking for a short game to read, I'd suggest Micro Mafia 3. The beginner's guide is a also nice tool to get up to date on the forum's meta.

We don't roleplay much here. It died out early on in the meta when people were lynched for it.

You don't look like you'll need it, but as a newbie on the site, you have priority for mentor chats if you would like one.

Thanks, I suspected as much. I think I read the beginners guide (well, I read a couple of articles here) a couple of weeks ago, but I'll brush up. I'll check out that game too.

I think I'll try without a mentor if I can.

RB basically roleplays, to various degrees, for the first few hours of D1, petering out until it's all but spent by the end of the (real-time) day, with a couple of hold-outs. Fortunately we've never had it dominate a game, mostly just being a fun interlude for those who do it (I don't really have much of a skill for it).
The only really bad game for it was this one, where one player basically chose to role-play an arrogant asshole game-long without telling anyone about it! OMFG that was a painful game to play.

If you're reading WW27 though, IIRC it was just MJW living on his own wavelength and Zak being too rhetorical. It was even banned in the rules!

 

I roleplays 90% of the time in Lexi's CYS actually. It was AWESOME, I wish it wasn't so frowned upon. XD

 

The mafia Factions choose via school yard pick which ROLES they desire. For example Penguin chooses Poison Ivy, Bane chooses Hush etc.
