Somewhat related: I thought it was funny that a Dark Knight Rises porn parody had better costumes for Batman and Catwoman than the actual movie did.

    Batman comparison.

    Catwoman comparison.

That Arkham City suit is pretty much exactly the Batsuit I'd like to see in the next set of movies. Just get rid of the underwear altogether, make the belt darker and make the cape a bit longer and cover the front of his body more.

My thoughts in no special order:

    - Comparing it to other 3rd movies, it was a very good ending of the trilogy. It had some great ideas (though some simply recycled and expanded), even if their execution did stretch my suspension of disbelief.

    - Fighting scenes were as always weak. Sure, there was drama in them, but technically they looked weak.

    - Bane had awesome voice. Sophisticated is the word, I think, which gave a great contrast with his looks.

    - Bruce not being Batman for eight years was weird. Considering his injures, I expected him to dress up for few more years before giving up because of them. Instead they surfaced after he already retired.

    - Catwoman wasn't bad, but the whole time I watched her fight alongside Batman I was asking myself - who taught her these moves? I mean, Bruce needed to travel around the world to learn how to fight like that, but it seems he could as well stay and go to the same dojo as Selina. Well, I think there must have been some dojo or maybe just Gotham version of Mr. Miyagi.

    - Fortunately, they didn't kill Bruce, though his willingness to play dead was a little weird to me. I suppose, there wasn't much for him in Gotham anyway and he did show up to Alfred. That said, I probably wouldn't just nod to my foster father. Alfred is not young and for all we know he doesn't have any closer family than Wayne. As he took care of Bruce, it's Bruce time to take care of him. Even if Alfred did leave him at the end. Which was off to me. Just as it was off when they did the same thing in the comics.

    - Cillian Murphy's cameo was perfect. So was Liam Neeson's.

    - Blake guessing Batman's identity was very contrived. Very.

    - Well, since I was 99% sure that Tate is Talia the final reveal wasn't surprising at all. As I was watching I thought that maybe Bane will turn out to be her brother, but suspected that the kid was her all along and the protector was him (and I some pointed out it could be guessed from the movie itself). Still, I'm not sure how well it worked for people who didn't expect it, since they build up Bane so much only to tell them - "Guess what? He's not that badass kid. It was Talia." And then kill her few minutes later.

    - And because of Bane's sudden demotion from the main bad guy, he got very unsatisfactory final scene.

    - As some said before, they willingness to die was weird. I would understand if it was to make sure they win, but it seems that they didn't have any escape plan anyway.

    - Robin bit was funny, but overcomplicated. They should just call him Richard Grayson and be done with it, since he was a cop in the comics for some time.

    - Batman's statue was (unintentionally) hilarious.

    - Funny coincidence - I watched also released porn parody by Axel Braun (the one with better costumes). The scene of betrayal (thought by different character) and getting knifed after defeating Bane was so similar that I'm wondering if I missed some spoilers from before the premiere that Braun didn't. It also has a porn version of The Killing Joke scenario done by Joker from The Dark Knight, which is a really disturbing combination.

One more thing. While watching the whole trilogy, there is one thing that seems weird in the third movie, even if we know the reason behind it - no mentions of Joker. Not even the smallest one. Which seems weird considering his impact and the fact that pretty much everything else is brought full circle. Joker had small introduction in the first movie, so it would work to have him small closure in the last one.

Interesting enough, TDKR novelization has it somehow covered:
Well, Selina may not know, but Bruce definitely should.

Also, some suggested that it works as unintentional commentary that people like Joker should be forgotten instead of elevating them in media.

And below you can see funny take on what really happened with Joker in TDKR.

Kinda have to agree; the Joker going unmentioned is a bit of an issue for the film. However, it's one of those unfortunate cases where real life circumstances are writing the plot, so I can give the movie a bit of a pass there.

I thought it might've been possible that they executed him as a terrorist or something.

Thing is, I hated how obviously human and just scarred the Joker was, he wore makeup, it wasn't his real skin, which pissed me off. I liked this movie as much as the last one, and Begins is almost as good as these. That said, even though I liked this one as much, it wasn't nearly as good, there were scenes that had me almost bored, like the

chase after the Stock Exchange. I was right with Alfred thinking Bruce should have stayed the fuck home.

I'm also pretty sure Daggett's name was Roland in the past not John, in comics and DCAU I mean, confirmation?

I think the makeup vs. chemically bleached skin is an interesting change. It seems to make him a lot more dangerous, and works well for the setting Nolan was going for.

I don't necessarily mind the bleached skin though. I mean I've liked Batman and the Joker by extension since I was like, five, so I'm pretty well used to it.

As I recall, Arkham Asylum/City had Joker use some makeup in addition to the bleached skin, particularly lipstick.

And yes, it was Roland Daggett, not John. I don't know why they changed it.

I can't remember specifically from the film, but I've read one feature that claims he's only ever called Daggett on screen, and he's just been called John by other media. Could be wrong though.

Edit with link to the feature in question. It's a DKR 50 best moments list, so spoilers, obviously. Link takes you to about halfway through.

I wonder if I watched the same film as this guy. In #48 on the list - what disloyalty?

She didn't leave him to die and run away. She went to ensure that the bomb blows up, killing both of them.

Also, people really have doubts about Bruce's fate?

But I forgot about EMP bit with paparazzi. That was funny.

Probably because people remember Inception. Unfortunately for them, TDKR isn't Inception. I don't care what the timer on the bomb said, it was a happy ending, dammit. No need to make it more complicated than it is.

Are you guys sure we watched the same movie?

I specifically remember a scene after they bury Bruce and Alfred says he's failed Bruce's parents, where Fox asks some techies to fix the auto-pilot, they said it had been fixed six months ago by Bruce, and then Alfred sees Bruce sitting with Catwoman at that restaurant he had been talking about earlier in the film.

    EDIT: Fixed.

This, honestly. It's weird when I go on forums and read stuff like that. They were both crazy.

Well, people are guessing that Alfred hallucinated the whole encounter with Bruce, which I could see since Bruce somehow getting clear of that blast would be...difficult. But since we had Fox's scene with the autopilot patch I assumed that we were simply meant to assume that Bruce lived, Alfred hallucinating makes more sense in Inception than it does here I think.

But it would clear up the rather weird choices Bruce Wayne makes in regards to Batman. I mean, the fact that he has a secret identity anymore is ridiculous. One way to make the whole thing make sense is that he simply had no choice.

I thought it was obvious that Bruce set the Bat on autopilot and jumped out way before it got out to the bay.

There were two problems I had with the story, though they're generic superhero movie complaints more than anything.

    1) Guns don't do anything. This is America, in a city that until recently had been full of sociopathic assholes, and not one person was willing to put a bullet in Bane's head.

    2) That nuke going off so close to the bay should have caused a freaking tsunami that would wipe out Gotham and kill millions. I know it was a neutron bomb and that they're not as powerful explosively as regular thermonuclear weapons (regular nukes - hah!), but it was still a freaking nuke.

Otherwise the film was awesome, though I don't think Dwitty appreciated my need to make snarky comments.

Amusing though they were, I did not, no.

Generally, I thought they were trying too hard to make it something special. But it was good and entertaining.

The political/philosophical detail of the moving was lacklustre, it was as though they were trying to incorporate every popular outrage or event of the last few years - hatred against bankers, revolutions and so on - without ever really knowing what point they wanted to make.

It was nice to see Teal'c/Christopher Judge, even if he did get beat up by Robin.

As to Robin and Catwoman, I quite liked that they didn't just come out and say, in old era Batman movie style, that they were same said superheroes and went, instead, for a more subtle depiction. For now.

Peculiarly, this trilogy seems to be one wherein the second episode is the most well liked, as opposed to the first and third. My own favourite is the first one.

It is an oddity since traditionally the second act is the weakest link in a trilogy since it can easily fall prey to being the part in the middle where nothing major happens. I think in the case of the Batman films, their very episodic nature helps; for the most part The Dark Knight works just fine as a standalone film.

Personally I think that The Dark Knight works best as a stand-alone film out of the three and is therefore my favorite.

Nolan did a great job of having Batman evolve with each film yet keep him centered enough that a running conflict of morality, how far one is willing to go to bring about justice, is present with each arc.

Have to agree; DKR was very heavy on the continuity compared to The Dark Knight. It was one of the really big differences between the two movies.

So I finally got around to watching this film and I am must say that I am utterly disappointed. I and my friends found it horrible. It lacks any logic and realism, the story is boring and nearly without any surprises and even the acting is not that great.. (the miserable German Synchro did also not help).
The vehicles are nice even if one wonders why Batman as no deadly violence type has every vehicle of his armed like the WW3 is beginning.

The beginning was okay and the epilogue was also nice.. but the rest - especially the storm of the city hall was catastrophic.

Goddamn... even Ted was more believable than this shit..and certainly a lot more amusing.
