Hm... Does race matter here? I think Bane was a South American dude, right? Anyway, Ezekial Jackson could do it in a pinch, if race was irrelevant (though knowing comic fans, it would be something to be raged about).

Dude, wrestlers are bodybuilders nowadays. Ones that have terrible acting skills to boot.

Not even post-serum bro. That nigga's got so much juice running through his veins he's the goddamn Kool-Aid man.

... Dude, besides Cena, Big Zeke, Mason Ryan, and Otunga, none of the WWE wrestlers look seriously jacked. Ever since the Benoit scandal, they've leaned towards wrestlers who look normal everyday people for the most part. Take Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan, Kofi Kingston, etc...

    Ironically...

I've seen Tom Hardy in a few films and he's always been kind of a lean wiry guy. I didn't think he'd be a very good fit for Bane because, come on, Bane is fucking huge and he's clearly a smaller type guy.

I was wrong. If he gets bigger like this, I can see him doing Bane.

I would never, in any imaginary cast list I came up with, put Anne Hathaway as Catwoman...

...but then, I never would've cast Heath Ledger as the Joker, either. That turned out okay.

EDIT: Okay. In this one side-by-side shot right here, I kinda get it:

    Still needs moar titties.

And her acting has always seemed "meh." I know she did some indie flick where she got a couple of awards - but that was for playing a former druggie.

As for Bane, that could go two ways:

    1. Hardy will play Bane in non-juiced mode, while a larger person (with even more padding or cgi) will play juiced Bane + Hardy's face pasted on (a la pasting Schwarzeneggar's younger face on that cgi body in Terminator: Salvation). I'm thinking that dude who played the Uber-Immortal in '300' is on the short-list. Or this guy.

    2. Nolan has completely re-interpreted the character, which will only require Hardy packing on a fair bit of muscle the way Bale had to.

Understatement of the forever. And I loled when I read that Bale actually had to loose bulk after he started shooting, they thought he looked too huge.

    Oh hai Bane.

So yeah, the viral marketing has kicked off, and this is the first thing to be revealed. Looks...interesting. Slightly gimpier than I'd anticipated, but realistic at least. I remain cautiously optimistic.

Looks a little creepy and reminds me of Mortal Kombat. Still, this photo makes me believe that this is a guy strong enough to break the Batman.

OT: The dude had to be juicing. He shot The Machinist right before Batman and did you see him in that? He was a freaking skeleton.

Was hoping to see Hush done, myself. I never really liked Bane. So long as he's not a mindless brute, we'll be fine.
Still, the Batman movies have yet to disappoint, so I remain optimistic about this. Are there any dates?

I for one am really looking forward to this. Never read the comics, but the films have been pretty epic so far. :3

    It's insane, but...well, he's an actor; it's his job.

Plus it's Christian Bale, who doesn't seem to do a lot of (read: any) side shit unrelated to prepping for a role and actual filming afaik - so what the fuck else is keeping him from bulking up ? :p

It's a little late to report this, but:

    Ra's Al Ghul.

...and let the fanboy speculation begin.

This is in no way surprising. If R'as Al Ghul is ressurected, I wouldn't bat an eye. He makes mad use of the Lazarus Pits. Has been for some hundred years.
However, considering the director's wish to steer clear off anything supernatural, my bets are on flashback.

Ohshit, Talia Al Ghul is SO gonna be there. I'm calling it now.
Edit@Solaceon: Villain? More like Batman's bitch.

My thoughts exactly. I'm going to go further by asserting that this "Miranda Tate" might be a cover for Talia. Nolan made it clear that he likes Marion playing mysterious, villainous characters, and after all that fanwank over Cotillard not getting a "major role" as Catwoman, this would be the perfect twist.

Remember during the BB filming, how Nolan merely started that Neeson was playing Ducard? Well, it would make sense if Miranda Tate is Talia, who is investigating her father's death.

Nobody ever said that Catwoman was the main villain of the movie. Methinks Talia might be a villain alongside Bane.

EDIT: Those pools in India do look suspiciously like Lazarus Pits, though. Perhaps they don't resurrect but rejuvenate people?

And in way they hid Ra's as Henri Ducard, they will have Selina Kyle as his daughter Talia... You know, I meant it as a joke, but now I'm not so sure anymore.
