Not sure how much of an effect this will have on the movie universe, but DC is shying away from continuity not only in film but also in comics now.

The rhetoric being given seems to point towards "allowing writers creative freedom without being constricted by the existing universe."

There is an event soon called Convergence that is apparently going to smash all the earths to smithereens and canon becomes defunct.

 

I am told that a teaser of the movie will be out sometime next week. Is this true?

 

I read somewhere it might be attached to Age of Ultron.

Looks like it's little more than speculation, but it would definitely be awesome if it happened.

I had just heard it'd be attached to the new Mad Max movie, but if it's with the Avengers that's fine too.

 

That's not whats happening in Convergence. It's more like DC head-honcho's are finally realizing that it was a colossal mistake to throw away decades of storyline in one move a.k.a New-52. They are now creating a new universe where they have the chance to acknowledge the previous storylines of various characters and in some cases, bring back some characters from the deep-freezer.

In anycase, if you are a DC fan, check this series out. It has some pretty decent stories.

 

Convergence on DC's side, and Secret Wars on Marvel's side. Both are apparently universe-mergers in which a new world of 40 locations is created based on the multiverse, and both seem to be used as a sort of soft reset button.

that's not why Convergence came about at all. The whole event is mainly to have stories that can be told for two months while DC moves their offices across country. The head honcho's felt that they should revisit some beloved ages of DC's history. The regular Nu52 continuity will come back in June with a mini relaunch that takes cues from the new direction introduced in Batgirl #35.

Convergence is also serving as a soft reboot. Dan Didio was going on about canon over continuity and from what I understand after this event only the main titles maintain any form of continuity while other comics are free to tell any story they want.

 

Trailer is out, get hyped

My god I didn't expect Ben Affleck's Batman to be that menacing. I feel like his bulkiness fits the character a bit more than the Nolan Batman.

Plotline looks interesting, I didn't think they'd be going in the direction they seem to be taking but there's still a lot up in the air with how dark Batman seemed to be portrayed in that trailer. It seemed fairly out of character for both sides with how it was trying to give the impression of Supes having a messiah complex and getting some terrorist vibes from Batman more than vigilante, but I am definitely interested in seeing what its actually like.

 

I'm not sure what I'm more excited for: the movie, or the slew of hilarious Super Cafe segments that it will undoubtedly spawn over at How it Should Have Ended.

 

The fight is very much looking like the one from Miller's TDKR. Which was awesome.

And agreed apoc; probably the most menacing Batman ever. Not only that, the one shot with Afflect's full face in it, he actually felt like Bruce Wayne to me. This gun be good.

 

Batfleck looks good, but plot sounds boring.

It's the usual "Superman is too powerful to be trusted blah blah blah" story.

 

Eh. It's a legitimate story thread, no wonder it's been used again and again. Edit: More than that, it's a recurring theme of Superman. One could say it's an inseparable part of his character.

 

It'd be more alarming as to the direction of the movies if people were perfectly ok with Supes given the level of destruction that occurred in the first movie. I just hope they handle the actual Batman vs Superman fights well.
