So I did a search and couldn't find a thread for BSG. If there's one I apologize. Has anyone been keeping up with the show lately? The season premiere was last week and it was awesome. We finally have the identities of all the Final Five, and Earth (which I'm betting is not) is pretty much a hellhole. I have no idea how they're going to wrap this thing up. There's so much still that needs to be answered, and the ending, which has been filmed already, is said to be very satisfying for fans and an appropiate end to their journey.

Fuck yes, awesome show. May as well use spoiler tags, just in case:

I'm raging at their choice for the Fifth. Take a completely insignificant, annoyingly flat character for an important role instead of one of the plethora of more rounded, excellent characters they have available? Yeah, no. Gtfo Ellen.

Also, what the hell is going on with Starbuck? When I saw her downed Viper and her body, I thought she was the Fifth, but I guess not. Dunno how, or if, they're gonna explain that.

And what the fuck happened with Dee? Out of nowhere, O_O.

There's also a complete dearth of good fanfiction.

    They are all Cylons.

The 'Final Five' have been too earth before.
So the entire 13th colony was Cylons (I KNEW IT, said it at the beginning) ,but only FIVE resurrect.
And what were they doing for 2 thousand years?

I liked that Galen Tyrol had his burn mark on that wall.
I would to see how they are gonna end this. The show was never about Earth or the Cylons models.

Also i know the whole "Earth is our new home" hope/faith is gone but all those people need to grow up. I mean they fould several good worlds that could support life.

Yay! A thread for the best show ever!

Was anyone else laughing when Leoben started running away from Starbuck? I thought it was completely hilarious. I also thought that Dee would be the last cylon because of all the screen time and mood swings, but no she just blew her brains out. I hope Ellen is another red herring.

Dee's death came out of nowhere, if this were a fanfic I'd say author was unable to believably split her with Apollo (so he could have lots of butt secks with Starbuck).

As for humanity-wide depression at finding Earth's state, it's totally unbelievable. It shouldn't be that difficult to find another terraformable planet, and they already showed that they didn't really care what planet it was.
Does anyone know any read-worthy BSG fics? I tried to read some one day, but ff.net delivered... well, random ff.net crap.

Earth was all they had. So when Earth went the way of the Dodo bird, people lost all hope.
But once again Adama finds a way to give hope.

And whose to say that the 13th colony didnt make some colonies of its own. Mars - Titian - Omicron Persei 8 - Kobal
The fleet survived during the attack on the 12 colonies, i'm sure some small fleet of the 13th survived what ever happened to Earth.
All of this has happened before and will happen again.

I personally wasn't dissapointed with the fifth cylon cause I called it way back when gimpy had two legs.

It was pretty formulaic. Had to be someone who the fans would never suspect and who else but the dead would be better for a cylon. Because they would rea appear resurected.

I was shifting between ellen, chiefs wife and the black priestess women.

Really I just want to know what the hell is up wiht star buck. Is she a clone, a copy, a new model of cylon.

If earth was filled with Cylons does that mean we are cylons or is this some kind of second coming where were gone and cylons take over the planet and pull a redo.

Have you noticed that there is no Cylon model number 7?

    It's been pointed countless times.

I agree that fifth cylon was a disappointment.
And I certainly didn't need to see grandpa sexing grandma in S04E12

How could the 5th cylon have been a surprise?

I called it a couple of seasons back when she showed up out of fraking nowhere.

I have to say, even with no hair, I would do Laura Roslin.

She would have to wear a wig though. :)

In all seriousness, I love the show, and I was waiting like a madman for the last few episodes to get off the ground.

Finding Earth, or what everyone thinks is Earth, as some kind of nuclear wasteland, was actually good. It keeps the realistic grimdark quality that the show has for the most part nailed.

That said, I just watched the latest episode, 'The Oath'. The shit's hitting the fan, although I can't say it's unexpected. Adama and Roslin, for all their positive qualities, let the fleet to what seems to be a dead end. Now they're allying with Cylons who in the past before the Cylon civil war had a hand in nuking the Colonies.

I'm not saying that Adama and Roslin aren't trying to do the right things, but given the general hopeless situation that seems to have formed, there are definite dictatorship qualities floating about. But then again, that may be necessary, as a fleet zipping through space for 4+ years really doesn't constitute a government.

But back to the latest episode, Gaeta, the man has been pushed too far, and I kind of understand it, although mutiny and civil unrest is intolerable. Sam Anders shot off Felix's leg during the Demetrius arc and seemingly got off scott free. Kara Thrace was in command and Felix may be right to blame her for the clusterfrak everyone is in.

Yep, it's their fault, especially during previous two episodes. I must say that I hope they shot off all mutineers though.

About Gaeta, you're right, but he had no right to start an uprising. He's not the first harmed person ever whose offender got away with their deed. And what he did was very stupid. Following his own train of thought if Cylons were waiting for an opportunity to attack them from behind he just gave them one.

Thinking about Cylons, it always bugged me why they didn't repair or rebuild Resurrection Ships. As far as we know in previous war, that happened 40 years before there were no human-like models of Cylons, so they had to be created during this sort of cease-fire. And Resurrection Ships were created with them, so there is no way they don't have knowledge or resources to do that.

Awesome episode was awesome. You can never have too much Romo.
Especially when he's armed with a pen.
So it looks like Ellen's coming back. Never really did like her, but I suppose leaving her dead would have been rather anti-climactic. At least that faggot Gaeta is dead.
And what was up with those slash marks Tyrol saw on the FTL drive? Stress fractures? Do you think that if they'd jumped the thing would have blown up? If so, this mutiny may have saved all of their lives, as no one might have noticed in time.
Oh and apparently getting shot in the neck makes you remember stuff.

Gaeta strikes me as one of those college revolutionaries. If you recall, he was one of the first people to get up on Baltar's jock which led to the whole New Caprica thing (which made it pretty ironic when he whined about Adama "abandoning" them there).

"I don't know what I want, as long as it's not the same thing we're doing now! Viva la Revolution!"

One of my favorite moments of this episode(Romo aside) was seeing Gaeta freeze up like that. Sure it was predictable as hell since Gaeta had none of what it takes to be a real leader, but godsdamn it was fun to watch. I was kinda hoping Adama would just cap the fucker right there in the CIC.

By my math, they're going to have to airlock about half the pilots and most of the Marines after this episode, or build a lot more brig space.

Are they going to have anybody left to man the guns if the bad Cylons show up?

My guess is that they'll just issue another blanket amnesty like they did with New Caprica. Execute the leaders, let the rest go. If they didn't, they'd have to find replacements for half the crew just so they can keep the ship functioning.

Hoping, hell I was expecting it.

In a lot of ways I think it really would have been a fitting end to the series if the last scene for the series was the previous season/mid season cliffy. It would have fit the rest of the overall tone of the series so incredibly perfectly.

Still its going to be interesting to see just how this all goes ends up going down.

They executed the leaders of the mutiny. That was all they needed.
