If we include anime we'll never leave this thread. Not only are a lot of the theme songs awesome, but most shows that run more than 12-13 episodes have multiple opening and ending theme songs.

Y'know... fuck picking one favorite. Being a kid (or a nostalgic adult) means not having to choose.

Restricting this to stuff that was around when I was a kid (sorry, Kim Possible), Ducktales, Talespin, CDR&R et cetera from Disney have been mentioned. How about Darkwing Duck?

I never saw Jem, but I hear it was truly, truly, truly outrageous.

The old Spider Man and His Amazing Friends theme was definitely a product of the 80s. I especially like the bell part that starts at 00:47 and the synthesizer at 00:55. :awesome

Here are a pair of obscure ones that barely made a blip on the radar: Gravedale High (with Rick Moranis) and Galaxy High (actually out on DVD, if you can believe it).

And then there was Kidd Video... Talk about 80s, it had a fairy that looked like Jennifer Beals.

 

That can't count, man. That was more...y'know how most shows on the CW use actual artists for the theme songs and episode soundtracks? That was Bebop - except all of the songs were incredible.

 

Aladdin, Gummi Bears, as well as Timon&Pumbaa needed to be mentioned.

Duck Tales, Chip-N-Dales, Talespin, Looney Tunes and Darkwing Duck. God, I spent so many days watching these. Life was good.

The Tex-Avery Show had a couple of good theme songs for their smaller episodes too.

Animaniac's, DarkWing Duck, Ducktales, Rescue Rangers, Gi Joe, any Disney 90's cartoon.

 

All of these shows remind me a little too much of my childhood.

I'll third Animaniacs. That shit was like crack when I was a kid. That and Road Runner, though that didn't have its own theme tune, I think.

 

Holy crap I forgot that cartoon existed. That was awesome. I especially liked the French lessons. I'm not certain Tinn would approve, however. Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan's brief appearance was lol too.

 

Animaniacs was so awesome for all the adult jokes they use, that'd you'd never get as a kid. I downloaded all of them recently and was rolling on the floor with dirty as shit humor I missed as a child.

Animaniacs + Finger Prince I think not is awesome.

 

Yeah, it's hilarious how many adult jokes you can find in older Warner Brothers' shit. Just have a looking at the intro from Animaniacs is like watching a tutorial in how to sneak innuendo past the censors. Fucking epic.

I used to watch that show to the end credits for the glamour card they inserted in every episode.

A totally confusing and unfounded place in my heart, as those shows kind of sucked, but the themes have managed to stay stuck in my head for years.

 

The original Japanese Pokemon Theme is my favourite... it has a goddamn guitar solo!

Bit disturbed how many of the themes so far I can hum... there must be little bits of my brain that have spent the last decade storing them instead of doing something useful.

Always loved the Mummies Alive theme song and I'm pretty sure I used to sing the theme to Superted everyday.

 

Captain Planet was pretty awsm. Dexter's Lab and Thundercats are the other best. I've never watched this show (My Pet Monster) but the song is fuckin epic. :awesome

 

I don't know if anyone remembers M.A.S.K. (not the one based of the Jim Carey movie). Also I'd add Pole Position and Bionic Six. Wouldn't necessarily call them great but they had a way to stick around in your head on an almost infinite loop. Am not sure if the intro to Centurions qualifies.
