I'll second the Semper Victoria series and Fallout: Equestria.

Semper Victoria is everything I love in military fiction with a lot of interesting and realistic characters. It's not a Humanity Fuck Yeah! story, but it does show the effects of having a hilariously huge technological advantage over a native population.

Fallout: Equestria is a fantastic fic even if you don't like MLP. I've gotten pretty bored with the fandom lately but I will remember this fic as being consistently awesome and as one of my all time favourites. It captures the feel of Fallout, something that I haven't managed to find in any other fic, while still maintaining the feeling of optimism of MLP. Combined with the way the back story is revealed over the course of the story and you've got the basis for the fandom's best fic.

Thanks for the rec. :) I actually just posted chapter 30, which is the finale of the second act. I'm on hiatus now to recharge my batteries and work on the outline for act 3, so this is as good a time as any for someone to start or catch up on the story--I probably won't be posting anything new on it for at least a few months.

Victory at Ostagar and All Roads Lead to Denerim may be good fics, but they are not the best the fandom has to offer. That honor according to me goes to mackillians epic series, which is as for now split up into four epic length stories, these are in order: 30 Dragon , In Peace We Lie, Their Shallow Graves and And We Shall Rise. The starting premise is that Alistar was not the only Royal Bastard, The youngest Cousland is one to, this causes butterfly effects.

The series is well written and with great characters who have both strengths and flaws. The series is long however, at the moment it lies at about 1,5 million words, that will say it is longer than many published books.

As mentioned before this series, if any is according to me the best that the Dragon Age Fandom has to offer, so people get up and read it.

Can I get a second opinion? I'll be reading these when I get a chance, but I'd really love to be able to cut a Loghain pairing off the list.

Pokemon: Hands down it's Game of Champions but some honorable mentions have to be Regret, Sun Soul, Traveler and Under the Same Sky.

Final Fantasy 7: The Fifth Act

Bleach: Frozen Sky (Discontinued, but still the best)

You guys bash on the Couseland Loghain pairing but it really isn't a happy romance or anything. In story, the characters recognize that it was a union of convenience and all around a mistake for the PC in terms of her happiness. Loghain, by no means, is portrayed as a good or admirable person but rather as opportunistic. To me, it felt more like a deconstruction of the whole Loghain pairings thing.

    @Snorkack : Wasn't Frozen Sky deleted?

@Otters: Second The North Remembers, Cenotaph, The Last and Interstitium as the bests in their fandoms.

Huh, thanks. Could have sworn there was a good Hitsugaya centric story that was deleted, though.

Those stories aren't bad, but Victory at Ostagar, no matter what you might say about the Loghain pairing (I, personally, didn't like it) was of a higher quality. It was truly professional writing. Which I, sadly, cannot say about this series.

I know that crossover are not supposed to go in the list but since somebody suggested Fallout: Equestria and the Dark Lords Ascendants I suppose this might fit.

    Dungeon Keeper

    Dungeon Keeper Ami
    http://dkami.wikia.com/wiki/Chapter_1:_Dungeon_Keeper_Ami

Sailor Mercury from the first season of Sailor Moon is transported to the world of Dungeon Keeper and accidentally becomes a Keeper.

Probably best of the fandom but to be honest DK doesn't have a good one. This one does have world building at least.

After the Fires Fade by Laluzi
Two months after the catastrophe, Alex Mercer is just trying to find his own niche in the world. Old secrets and new enemies are determined to make things hectic again… luckily, he wasn't that fond of the peaceful life anyway. -Disregards Prototype 2.
    Rated: Fiction T - English - Horror/Suspense - Alex M./Zeus, Dana M. - Chapters: 16 - Words: 142,643 - Reviews: 312 - Favs: 331 - Follows: 315 - Updated: Aug 29, 2013 - Published: Oct 9, 2011 - id: 7450063

Picks up after the game, probably the best pure Prototype story there is - Laluzi really gets Mercer's character. That said, I actually prefer the two big Prototype crossovers over this one, just because they are a bit more fun:

    A Dead World by Laluzi
He had been captured; Alex Mercer knew that much was obvious. But if that was the case, why had his captors just left him there without security? How had he ended up in a bunker buried in some kind of giant desert? Where was everyone? And when the hell did bottlecaps become currency?
    Crossover - Fallout & Prototype - Rated: T - English - Adventure/Suspense - Chapters: 15 - Words: 101,318 - Reviews: 517 - Favs: 763 - Follows: 854 - Updated: Jun 21 - Published: Oct 11, 2012 - Arcade G., Courier, Alex M./Zeus

Mercer wakes up in a Vault in Nevada. Like before, Laluzi really nails Mercer as a character, and the Courier is interesting too.

Variant Strain by Scriviner (was mentioned earlier)
Prototype/Spider-man(Marvel) Fusion. For most, adolescence is a time of change and growth. For some, the changes are a bit more drastic than expected. Peter struggles with a changing world, an even more changeable body and more questions than he has answers for. He tries to understand where his strange new powers come from and the most important question of all... what happened?
    Crossover - Spider-Man & Prototype - Rated: T - English - Sci-Fi/Mystery - Chapters: 63 - Words: 250,600 - Reviews: 774 - Favs: 1,149 - Follows: 1,027 - Updated: Jun 1 - Published: Oct 25, 2012 - Peter P./Spider-Man

One of my all time favorites - not a crossover, but a fusion with Peter getting infected with Blacklight as the basis for his powers. Things escalate quickly.

"Variant Strain" is fucking glorious, to put it mildly. I never liked Spider-Man, never liked anything from Marvel, to be honest, that wasn't Punisher, and I surely didn't expect this crossover to be any good, but man oh man, I was glad to be proven wrong.

Guess I'll get in on this to, a bit.

Naruto: I'll nominate Life in Konoha's Anbu/The Howling Wind as the best fic. I've never read Dreaming of Sunshine, so I can't really comment, but it IS something of a self-insert, iirc? No matter how good that just knocks it down a peg, no matter what.

Will also make special mention of People Lie, as it's a great example of the fandom a few years ago. It hasn't held up as well as it could have, but still a great read, imo.

However, no Naruto list is complete without mentioning, what is absolutely THE best one-shot in the fandom: Twenty Time Uzumaki Naruto Didn't Die.

Danny Phantom: Unfortunately, I've never really found a pure DP-fic that I like, so I'll leave you with this crossover as a consolation: Marvel Phantom. Despite being a crossover, it reads more like Danny Phantom with Marvel Elements. If it simply got rid of those, it'd still be awesome. It's a bit of a darker take on the show and it's ghosts.

Fate/Stay Night: In my opinion, Path of The King is the best FSN fic. It hasn't been updated in awhile and the grammar needs some work, but it still holds up well and it's not as bad as From Fake Dreams.

I've heard Chaos Theory is good too, but I could never get into it for some reason.

Code Geass: This fandom needs more fics, seriously. As it is, it's probably a tie between Dauntless and Lelouch of Britannia. They both have the same premise: What if Lelouch was discovered in Area 11 before becoming Zero. They're both fairly well written, but the chapters are short. The politics that sometimes comes into play isn't anything that immediate strikes you as odd and geas still seems like it'll feature heavily.

The crossover Lulu's Bizarre Adventure, a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure/Code geass fic, deserves special mention, I feel. Sadly it's on Spacebattles.

Sword Art Online: I'll second Fairy Dance of Death, and also put up Lamora's short lived fic By The Victors.

Definitely incredible. Only reason I didn't mention it is because the focus seemed to be on epic length stuff.

Just re-read, and man...still one of, if not the best Itachi.

Hmm, I should probably give Dauntless another try. I don't remember why I didn't like it the first time, but something made me stop reading.

Lelouch of Britannia is excellent, as are The Sum of Our Choices, Armed Resistance, and Code Geass Megiddo...though I wouldn't pick them as the representative work. Lelouch of Britannia probably deserves the spot, even if it is just now hitting the canon timeline.

I considered Armed Resistance, but no matter how much i loved the fic, the Author had some points about it when he dumped it so he could rewrite it. (Which I'm still waiting for. Desperately)

    Wanderer's Diary by Three Rejects
Most know of the so-called messiah of the Capital Wasteland, the man known only as the Lone Wanderer. To the righteous, he is a saviour. To the evil, he is a nightmare made manifest. And to those who actually know what he's like as a person, he's a dangerous nutjob with some serious psychological issues.
    Fallout - Rated: T - English - Humor/Adventure - Chapters: 34 - Words: 162,168 - Reviews: 125 - Favs: 188 - Follows: 101 - Updated: Aug 3, 2013 - Published: Mar 23, 2013 - Lone Wanderer - Complete

The best non-crossover Fallout story I have read - it features some odd humor, but really that fits well with the Fallout universe anyways...it usually comes up in response to odd perk effects and the like. The perspective might be a turn off for some though.

    Nope.

    You're wrong.

You're flat out wrong, because there are only two solid contenders for Best Danny Phantom fic. Neither will ever be finished, and one is abandoned.

The first is one of my old favorites, Anathema's Abode, a insanely sprawling AU about a world where Ghosts rule over humanity, and Danny is the lone outsider in them all.
    3.5/5.

The next is Real Life, a pretty dire and vicious picture of what being half ghost would actually be like. It's really, really grim and kind of depressing. 4.5/5.

Yeah, it's an annoying as fuck avatar. It really makes me think you're a douchebag, Frantic. Like, Jersey Shore level douchebaggery. I mean, I only watched a few minutes of that show once, but I don't think it's a coincidence that a week later I was diagnosed with cancer.

Is that what you want Frantic? To give people cancer via your douchiness?
