I was looking through some of the updated fics at FFN today and found this:

I burst out laughing when I read it. It seems to be exactly what most of the canon Wizarding World thinks of him.

I honestly think that is a very good description, Dumbledore doesn't have to be the evil manipulator of Doom.

Yeah, I remember that fic. Not bad, except for Ginny butting in... Hmm, haven't read it in a while...

evil manipulator of doom? no, of course not. ffn authors accentuate his manipulations to epic proportions and suddenly the man who fooled a few negligable (read sarcasm) generations into thinking that he had every single person's best interests at heart is blatant enough with his evilness that he employs both her-my-oh-ninny and Ronald "chess grandmaster" Weasley to attain his goals. However, he is not this Superman donned with a suit of superfluffybunny love armor +5. While I personally see a man that clings to the one bit of hope he has in a world of death, I too fell off my chair laughing at this quote praying, against all hope, that this particular author is killed via quill (he is far too great to be seen utilizing a pencil, pen, or knife to write his story in his own blood).

I think it was meant to be sarcastic within the story, as in Harry is being sarcastic.

It seems a pretty standard description of Dumbledore from any indy!harry fic where Harry behaves like an immature baby who spends all his time ranting against Dumbledore. Though I do seem to remember reading this one as well.

Meh, the whole incapable, manipulative Dumbledore idea has got old for me; I pretty much like to take the canon view of him now. After all, he is one of JKRs better characters.
