Maybe the definitions have changed recently, but in all the time I've been reading fanfiction a "one shot" can be as long as you like. It must be posted in one shot, ie. no chapter breaks or waiting for the next part to be released.

Some of the best fics I've ever read have been lengthy one shots. They have a different pacing to multi-part releases because the author sees the whole story before them, in its entirety, and can modify the beginning as they're writing the ending. Kinda like movie vs. TV series.

This is how it's been classified for many years in other fandoms.

Whilst Wikipedia is certainly not a definitive reference, seeing as they back up my position I'll quote them anyway: "Single-chapter stories of any length are usually referred to as one-shots."

Hmmmm I wonder if Blot would allow anyone else to continue his story because as much as we plead for more i think it might be a while before he even thought of completing such an exciting fic. I feel kinda stupid because i hate not knowing what happens in the end, not knowing the full story... Oh well

your talking about the one revised chapter 39 i dont see a sequel then again there are 76 chapters all with different names

 

He said as much, in the original.

The revised story (Ch39) is several times larger than the original. It was written by another author.

So, if you want more, the author has given you permission to write it. There's no point waiting on Blot to churn out new chapters that are probably never going to be written. He does have a plot outline for the rest of the fic through to graduation though. It's mentioned in the author's notes.

 

This story really reads like a guilty pleasure fic to me, because of how adult-like Harry is when he is a child, and how he begins the story by spraying Dudley with formaldehyde. To me Harry is also ver ooc, because of how in canon he is submissive to the Dursleys and doesn't try to piss them off. He actually just tries to behave and not get in trouble, therefore it doesn't make any sense for Harry to act as he did. Harry seems really Mary Sueish, because he has no character flaws and seems to be the smartest person in Magical Britain. That being said, I did enjoy the story, and it was really funny. It doesn't do a 5 for me; it's a 4.
