There's a possibility that Elizabeth, our Elizabeth, now exists out of time like the twins. Therefore while other Elizabeths (whom I think are illusions anyway) disappear, our Elizabeth might not have.

Aside from that even if she did disappear, she doesn't really stop existing, she kind of reverts back to herself before she was kidnapped.

Ah, but Elizabeth wasn't born until years later through Booker. Therefore, by drowning her dear old Dad, she's not born. Hence, nihilistic.

    Also.
I've been told to use these. I don't like them very much, actually. I personally think that they're very un-American, which shouldn't really matter to me as an Australian, but it does. Still, I suppose if I was American I wouldn't be wrestling with this goddam crocodile, smacking it around on the arse like it was my bitch.

The way I saw it was that only the Booker that chose to be baptised was drowned. Therefore the normal Booker who declined the Baptism, and Anna as an addition, are still alive. This theory is supported by the post credits scene.

If Elizabeth, influenced by her past with Comstock, drowns Booker before he becomes Comstock, then Comstock never existed therefore Elizabeth never existed therefore Booker never drowns, QED. Happy ending with Booker and Anna and no Comstock.

From what I understand, what Elizabeth did is use her powers to make a new constant. There's still the crossroads at the baptism river. Booker A chooses to go through with it, Booker B doesn't. However, the new constant is when Booker A chooses to be baptised, he drowns, and therefore never becomes Zachary Comstock. Booker B thus continues as normal, and as there's now no Comstock to tempt him to sell his daughter, he keeps Anna.

I don't see Elizabeth's actions there as nihilistic at all. They're hopeful. She's sacrificing her existence so that the deranged fuck that ruined her and her father's life can never exist, and so that she and her father can be happier in a new world without interference from dimension-hopping madmen.

I liked it quite a bit, and I thought the story did a great job of tying everything together at the end. The one thing I was disappointed about was how the game actually was compared to the trailers from 2-3 years ago, where Charles actually existed, where you could choose to shoot or let the Columbians go about their business.

I also seem to recall something about opening tears having a toll on Elizabeth in an old magazine article. Also, what the hell happened to my limited-use Vigors? I was really looking forward to this game being a fucking challenge, that you'd have to decide between using your Vigors now, or wait until the next boss fight and just unload on whoever it was.

Hell, 1999 mode isn't anymore challenging than Hard, at least to me. The only difference is that your little objective arrow thing is turned off.

What I don't quite understand about the ending is that, if She drowned Booker that get's baptized, what stops another Booker from another universe from getting Baptized and becoming Comstock. Because if there are infinite Universes that diverge because of choice there could be millions of worlds where Comstock lives.

In one universe he never participated in Battle of wounded knee but still got baptized, in another he might have killed more people than in another universe. One universe he could have not even created Columbia, he lived in small church and was Happy with his choice. He could have baptized at another place, and became that bastard.

So how can Elizabeth stop all Comstocks if there are millions Dewitts? I'm sure she will not be able to drown all of them. One for sure could have went insane and shot all of the Elizabeths.

So my question is how does she stop Dewitt from becoming Commstock?

Based on what I understand, I don't think this is a truly infinite multiverse where there's a possibility for everything. There are constants and variables. Some things just have to happen a certain way. For example, maybe there are no universes where Booker never fought at Wounded Knee, because it's a constant that he does, just like how that coin toss always lands on heads. What he does afterward is a variable, all of which eventually lead to another constant. It's a constant that if Booker becomes Comstock, he goes nuts and founds/helps to found Columbia. Or it was anyway, until Elizabeth used her powers to make a new constant so that Comstock could never exist.

One theory I heard was that Elizabeth also merges timelines. So at the end, she merged together every timeline that led to Dewitt becoming Comstock and killed him during baptism. That way there was never a Comstock to take Anne from Dewitt and they remained together.

If there's no merging involved then it could be that Elizabeth took out the Dewitt in the most significant timeline that results in Comstock, having a domino effect on every other related timeline.

OK, but if she drowns only Comstock, she wouldn't have been taken in the first place, resulting in return for her never drown Comstock since she was never taken through dimensions resulting in Comstock never drowning. Won't this create a paradox?

Actually, by drowning DeWitt/Comstock, she invariably causes herself to no longer exist, hence the various Elizabeths vanishing one by one until only the last one is left before the game cuts to black. If you think about it, DeWitt is a tragic character, and a man who truly exemplifies the 'my choices haunt me' stereotype. Also, to cast a somewhat brighter light on the game, at least he got to spend some time with his daughter before he died.

The old constant is thus: every time there is a Comstock, he creates an Anna by stealing Elizabeth from Booker.

The new constant, created by Annalizabeth at the end of the game is thus: every time there is a Comstock, he is drowned by Annalizabeth, and therefore never created Elizabeth or post-selling-Anna Booker.

She took the fork in the timeline that was that baptism, and eliminated the Comstock route entirely by making his creation always lead to his immediate death.

This is why the post-credits scene is Booker in his office with the crib. Because that was the point where Comstock's interference in Booker and Anna's timeline begun. But somehow - probably because Annalizabeth made it so - he remembers. And it's a fairly safe assumption that baby Anna does too.

I'd love to see fanart of baby Anna and young Booker embracing, both of them with nosebleeds.

I shall join in on the spoiler-off!

Another interpretation could be that it's not a paradox, rather a sequence of events.
    1. Booker gets baptised, becomes Comstock.
    2. Makes Columbia, steals Anna, kills the Luteces.
    3. Luteces bring our Booker from another dimension, with the help of Elizabeth, they destroy Comstock.
    4. But this means Elizabeth was never created, so Comstock lives.
    5. But if Comstock lives, then Elizabeth was created right?

    See the problem?

It could be a never ending circle, that fortunately doesn't seem to affect our Booker anymore. As far as he's concerned, he's back at his house with Anna (maybe!) I'm not so sure i believe in this theory, but hey, it's here for you if you want it.

You could alternatively say, that when Elizabeth drowned Booker, she prevented the original choice, the one that made the first Comsock and created the supposedly infinite universes with him in it, from happening. And effectively rooted out Comstock from every universe ever.

The concept artist for Bioshock: Infinite posted, on her tumblr, a guide to drawing accurate-to-canon images of Rosalind Lutece in her underwear.

    No, really.

    So this is happening.

I was wondering when they'd actually start releasing DLC for this game. I'm very glad it's not some half-assed costume pack or something.
