Hallucination or not, Unohana's Bankai is interesting. Shame she's (probably) dead, though.

Guess Unohana's dead after all. Zaraki got this Shikai? I'm also curious what the hell Ichigo losing means as well.

 

I have a theory that Kenpachi's shikai is only in a state of partial release like his 5th seat does. Hopefully that's true and his sword does something useful.

 

On Topic: I now ship Kenpachi/Unohana, and for the first time ever had a bleach!Fic bunny pop into my head.

On another note, I would have been much more interested in THIS Version of Bleach:

 

Looks a lot like Tatsuki. And the pic on the right... face way too masculine. Still pretty hot, in a really awkward way.

I wonder if the canon pairing would be Ishida, Renji or... Byakuya?

 

Ichigo losing because he was strong enough not to get help made sense imo.

 

When he has a Zanpakutou, he still loses, but without one, he's too strong? Bah! I guess it sorta makes sense, if being a Shinigami has to do with being dependant on your Zanpakutou's power, but well, just look at how Zaraki used to be. It just feels like the mouse wheel for Ichigo. More mental introspection and resolve time for him. It's sorta annoying how much stuff is out of his control.

I thought the chapter was really boring, and nothing really happened. Meh.

So now we know that Isshin was captain of 10 division and also a Shiba, another facts fans predicted come true

 

Liked to see old, badass Aizen and young third seat Hitsugaya. Really, those characters are all I care about. Zero interest in this new Quincy battle, especially since it feels so contrived. That is what I hate about this video game esque logic they are using, that the next enemy has to be stronger so that the main characters are always just below them in strength. That's just not believable anymore when ichigo had been pretty much invincible before.

So yeah, okay chapter for a subpar arc.

Last page actually managed to get me interested in this flashback. So we'll obviously have a break next week.

 

Looks like a Vasto Lorde (suspiciously like Ichigo's berserker form too), should be interesting. Although to be honest I've actually found the last couple of issues, Kenpatchi aside, fairly interesting, even if none of it has been particularly groundbreaking or unexpected.
Still curious about what happens when Ichigo meets the Soul King and what that will all mean though.

New Bleach is out-not putting up a link because I'm lazy and you all know where to find it. So apparently soul bonds are now Canon for Bleach. What's the guess Ichigo's mum was also a Veela and now Ichigo is the first male Veela in a thousand years?

 

Perhaps, but I'm actually enjoying the backstory. So much was left untold that having my curiosity sated after all this time is gratifying. I really wish there was more backstory on Urahara though. He's my favorite character, and these huge gaps in his timeline that are getting handwaved away is annoying. What is his Bankai?!

 

Yeah, backstory is great, I love it. But the pace of these chapters is incredibly slow.
