What's that got to do with anything? I'm simply pointing out that Bleach actually isn't Naruto, and the themes and resolutions prevalent in that don't somehow automatically apply as foregone conclusions here despite how much you seem to think they do.

Shounen is just a general demographic, and it includes stuff like Shingeki no Kyoujin. Even WSJ itself has had plenty of varied series with opposing themes and ideas to each other, and long running mangaka like Kubo can do whatever the hell they like. There's no set 'rules' to shounen or seinen or josei or anything.

You are literally worrying over nothing. We have absolutely no idea how Uryu's plotline will pan out until it actually pans out.

Well, Bleach is being ended forcefully. They're preparing for the 'ending arc', '1000 years of somethingsomething weird japanese foreboding title'. Kubo Tite is NOT happy.. all in all, it's time for Bleach to die.

Nope. I don't know how it is officially but I'm pretty sure that Bleach's popularity has been on the decline for a long time now. We were told that Kubo was planning his final arc to span the next 10 years sometime around the conclusion of the Fullbring arc. Sometime afterwards, Kubo was told that he had a 2 year deadline to complete the manga.

 

Huh. 2 years is a lot better than I had expected from the recent news - but just how long has it been since the Fullbring arc concluded in Japan?

 

Hmm, the first chapter of this arc was released on Mangafox on 8th February 2012. So around a year and a half? He's had a couple of breaks in-between as well as this 5 week hiatus and I'm not sure if they're included or not.

 

Thanks. Hard to believe its been so long already, though. It seems like just a few months ago we were being introduced to Mayuri's freaky new face and learning of the disappearance of souls in Rukongai. Doesn't seem like a whole lot has happened since then.

 

Bleach has been steadily falling in sales and popularity after the Soul Society arc, but it's still fairly popular. I believe it ranked 12th in 2012 for series based on sales, selling almost three million copies. It still makes good profit, even if not one of the "top three" anymore. Giving a two-year deadline is surprising, but not unthinkable. Since it's been steadily declining for a long, long time, I guess the publishers can't stand the disgrace and want to nip this in the bud before it truly crashes.

 

10-year arc?? Holy shit, is this common? (I don't read Naruto or One Piece or anything.)

 

No. But then again, Bleach chapters are about as slow as you can get in terms of pacing. Thanks in no small part to ridiculous amounts of dialogue and constant face panels.

Okay, what? I'm looking around where I heard about the deadline and I'm starting to think it was just a random comment that got blown out of proportion. All I've seen so far is early last year someone said that Kubo couldn't possibly have enough content for ten years and that Bleach would undoubtedly end within two years. Nowadays it's treated like common knowledge.

Sorry about all that. Assume it's bullshit unless I find something to back it up.

Hmmm. If Ichigo's cloak is part of his bankai then shouldn't he have run into this bankai being broken nonsense a while ago? I recall him having his cloak repaired on his way to fight Aizen.

 

Seems more like his cloak is a shroud of energy created by his Bankai, what with the whole "representation of his reiatsu" thing. His cloak wasn't repaired, Unohana restored enough power that he could manage the whole cloak again.

His Bankai is (was?) just the sword. That was established back in the Byakuya fight.

 

I'm pretty sure it was specifically said that the cloak was part of his bankai. It may be a special exception though since Kubo decided to make it represent his current power.

Opens up with something that comes across (at least to me) as a swipe at all the people complaining about how incredibly slow-paced Bleach has become, then follows it up with a chapter that completely undoes the last couple chapters where it looked like Stuff Happened at a semi-reasonable pace.
