The Zombie Girl is clearly meant to be cut, though. It would be counter-productive for her to have defenses or dodging skills if she has an immortal body and her power only works when she bleeds on people.

 

He's still the blade. He quite clearly just got done saying that there's pretty much nothing he can't cut through. Swinging with more force isn't the issue here. It's being able to land hits.

 

I like how no one, I mean, like, not a single fucking person, thought to simply decapitate the one who invited them to cut her. The one guy who attacks tries for her shoulder.

Shinji's alive, Zaraki is the Thirteen Court Guard Squads' last hope(so maybe someone else should have shown up sooner? Run background support? Jeez), and the Sternritters are about to collectively crap their pristine uniforms at the Big Man on Campus. Good stuff for a minute's read.

 

Bleach is weird like that. KUBO is weird like that. Half the time I don't give a shit about the weekly Bleach update, but a few times every arc, I end up wanting to see what happens next more than I do in One Piece or Naruto.

This is definitely one of those times. Naruto's been kind of 'eh' for awhile, and while this arc is the best one One Piece has had in quite a bit, I can still see what's coming for the next few chapters ahead of this one pretty easily.

This though. This is the tension when bullies and assholes that have been causing trouble are about to be called to task for it. This is the calm before the storm. The revenge storm that's about to get blown straight up some people's assholes.

I don't care how shit the story itself is, I'd read a terrible piece of fanfiction just for that one moment of terrible glory. Bleach is no different. I'm actually kind of looking forward to it.

I'm enjoying seeing Ichigo pwn the mooks right now, we've had far too long without him kicking some serious ass. An extended period of asskicking as he works his way through the quincy ranks sounds just fine to me.

 

This manga will remain, despite good moments, a net failure until we see Aizen's bankai.

 

You realize that, strictly speaking, we still haven't seen ICHIGO'S Bankai, right?

We saw some sort of superform that his inner Quincy decided to give him using it's powers, but that shit is basically what the Sternritter are doing right now but with a different paint-job to pretend it was a Bankai.

We still have yet to actually see what Ichigo's Bankai is, or, for that matter, what any of his Shinigami powers actually are.

I'm still putting money on the idea that he's Captain Genocide's grandson. We may get to see the world dissolved to ash by proxy through Ichigo.

Also, I'm not even sure what Aizen's Bankai could be, but if I had to make a guess, I'd say it might be like Soifon's, wherein he prefers his Shikai because his Bankai is much shittier than it in his opinion. It's hard to top "see my blade, now I control every part of how you perceive reality forever."

And you're being pretty bold in assuming we haven't seen it already. This is Aizen we're talking about. What makes you think you aren't already under it's power?

 

I've always thought it's making his illusion into reality... actual reality-warping. And he never used it because it wouldn't have been that much fun. (Or who knows, maybe he actually has used it - a good way of explaining how everything's always an illusion as far as attacks against him are concerned.) But KUBO has already used that idea, with that little boy Sternritter (whatever the fuck his name is). So who knows.

 

Aizen's bankai = Madara's Mugen Tsukuyomi

 

Aizen's bankai is the power to retcon. It's why there have been so many.

 

Tite's sold almost every bit of respect I ever had for him down the river, but even so, I refuse to believe his Bankai was anything that could have actually helped his plan. As absurdly convoluted as it was, it basically worked until the very end when he decided it would be better to try and punch Ichigo to death with transcendent Hollow powers than to just spam his Shikai until he caught him and then send his head home to his sisters in a box.

So disbarring that last part where he clearly flipped his shit and went off the rails, I refuse to acknowledge the idea that his Bankai could have been anything that would have made his plan easier or quicker to implement. That basically limits it to either a downgrade from his Shikai, at least by his reckoning, or something along the lines of Yammamoto's, i.e. something he didn't want to use because it would greatly inconvenience him.

We have enough plot holes as it is. I don't care if Tite makes it fucking canon, I'm not going to accept the idea that Aizen could have won the whole shebang post-Ulquorra just by saying two syllables.

If I had to make an educated guess, I'd stick to the theme we already have. His Zanpakuto's name is Mirror Flower Water Moon, which references two old eastern stories about illusions and trickery. The Water Moon refers to a story about a monkey that sees the reflection of the moon in a pool of water, and tries to catch it, but he can't ever quite touch it, because it's just a reflection. The Mirror Flower story I don't explicitly remember, but it's something along those same lines, involving the reflection of a flower that someone, obviously, could not reach.

Working with the Mirror Flower Water Moon theme, and going with the idea that his Bankai would not have helped him in any capacity (up until the very end where he obviously snapped), I'd hypothesize that while his Shikai projects that trait outwards, his Bankai may be like Ichigo's Quincy power, and compresses and focuses the ability internally. So instead of inflicting a state of total illusion on everyone around him, his Bankai turns Aizen himself into a living illusion that cannot be touched or interacted with, much like the reflection of the moon on the water, or the mirrored image of the flower.

That would be a definite extension of what we already know he's capable of, and it would explain why he never used it. Quite simply, he never actually needed it. The only time it would have ever been useful (again disregarding the very end where he went monkeyshit insane) would have been against Captain Genocide, and even then, it would have only ensured a draw, with Yammamoto unable to touch him, and Aizen lacking the ability to actually strike a killing blow without getting his head ripped off and blown to ash. Which handily explains why he created Wonderwiess and Extinguir.

 

Aizen could kill Yamamoto just fine. He just needed to take a kill shot with his first attack. I'm gonna assume he made Wonderwiess because he didn't know what Yamamoto's bankai was and wanted to counter that. Or he just wanted to troll him.

 

Reread the manga. The reason Wonderweiss was created is because Aizen couldn't kill Yamamoto so long as he had his powers. The ability to warp perception wouldn't save him if Yamamoto decided to just incinerate fucking everything. The whole point was to stop him from using his powers, because even the Shikai could have easily killed Aizen.
