Big damn heroes it is!

 

I'm kind of disappointed. The power creep is so strong that Ichigo picking his sword up off the anvil cut a fucking mountain in half, and he made the journey back from King Kai's planet to earth at what had to be a significant fraction of the speed of light, yet he still lets himself get punched in the face by the Emilou Apacci of the Quincy Army and goes flying back eight miles.

At least let him walk through these fucks like the redshirts they're supposed to be to him, goddamn. Let him get punched in the face and then the smoke clears and he's still standing there with her fist on his face looking at her.

 

The idea of the king's key seems stupid to me. If armor and clothes made from strong shinigami was so great then I'd think that the Gotei 13 would be using some form of it.

 

I suspect there's only so much hair, skin, and bones of people that aren't dead to go around.

 

I wasn't implying that the Zero Squad would provide the hair and bones for everyone. There are 13 captains in soul society. Also they live rather long and so I suspect you could get more than you'd think.

 

I doubt clothes made from the bones and hair of shinigami not of the Royal Guard would have anywhere near the same effect, if any.

 

It depends on if they're magical because they're in the Royal Guard or because of their strength. I don't see them all as outclassing Yamajii all that much since he was probably the superior to them all at some point.

 

They're all powerful shinigami but I thought the reason their bodies comprised the Key was that they lived in the Royal Palace place where there was so much Reishi that it made them super dense with it, or something.

That could be bullshit my mind fabricated but... bleh... I seem to remember that from somewhere and I don't read Bleach fanfic.

 

The Soul King turned the Royal Guards into King Keys, basically.

The Bald Monk's palace had an atmosphere of immensely dense reishi which is apparently quite useful for training.

 

So I guess it's because they're in the Royal Guard. Most of their palaces are useful for training.

 

It also kind of fits in with the rest of what was said about the reishi constructs of SS. After Rukia gave her powers to Ichigo, she began the healing process by going back to SS, where the reishi was denser, and she could recover her strength naturally as the result of living there.

The Palace of the Royal Guard is just more of that.

 

I kind of want Aizen or Evilgetsu to get up there.

I'm pretty sure the King could put a boot up both their asses, unless he's somehow literally the most powerful being in the Bleach universe and also a complete pussy, or something.

 

His power may be more of a sort of regulator of souls, without which no more would be made or reincarnated correctly, rather than a physical god like Mugetsu!Ichigo and Hōgyoku!Aizen. Less fighter and more maker. That would explain Urahara's statement about the Soul King being the lynchpin to Soul Society and why the Zero Squad have to exist to defend him.

Spiritually speaking, he is the most powerful force in the universe. Physically, he's a push over. *shrug* We'll see how Kubo plays it out.

 

Following that thought, it could be that he already has been defending himself--by putting souls like Ichigo, Yamamoto, those who join the Zero Division, etc, into the cycle of reincarnation.

 

I'm with Raine. I miss Aizen. That guy was awesome right up until the end, when he went crazy Power Rangers-villain.

I still want to see Kyouka Suigetsu's bankai.
