Recently read "bleached" which can be found in the WbA section and had the urge to read some bleach fanfiction. As usual FFN is full of crap.

So if anyone knows any good bleach stories would you be able to post a link.

    Cheers!

note: sorry about any spelling/grammar its 2am here, posting this now in hopes of something to read while at work :)

aaltwal just recommended this in his thread and on irc: Frozen Sky

Says it was his inspiration. I am only starting now.

I may write one myself. Getting the "me too" measles.

That's one of the only fics I've actually enjoyed from the Bleach fandom, though your mileage may vary since it's a Hitsugaya-centric fic. If it went up for review I'd give it 5/5 with ease.

I think I put frozen sky on this forum before in the Other Fandoms section.

You'd be hard pressed to find one. We're talking about a fandom in which there aren't even any crappy timetravel fics, the most common type of readable sludge.

Ah I was going to link one from my favorites list: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3860355/1/After_The_Fairy_Tale_Ends

This amused me for quite a while, though Ichi is quite OoC.

Yeah the other ones in my favorite list aren't bad, a couple are plain horrible though. So read at your own risk. I use my list as a way to track stories more than say 'this is good enough to be my favorite.'

I always wondered why people liked Bleach and maybe you guys can answer me. It has basically no plot, rather it has excuses to have the cool characters have epic fights with swords and is basically on the same level of depth as Captain Tsubasa. The manga easily could have been called "Last Second Rescues and Fights".

Also, is it me or do a lot of the Bleach characters resemble figures from other mangas, like Hitsoguya (the ice dude) who practically is drawn exactly like Riku from Eyeshield 21?

It just baffles me that it is among the three top mangas right now, just curious.

I think that's the appeal of it, to be honest. It's like the pointless horror films you watched as a teenager that had no plot whatsoever but were amusing nonetheless. It's like what Alien vs. Predator was meant to be, what Freddy vs. Jason could have been, what Dumbledore vs. Gandalf is in your head. It's basically just an excuse to have some awesome characters fight other awesome characters with shounen stereotypes and a thin veneer of a storyline holding things together.

To summarize; it's all about the magic sword fights.

Mhmm, Bleach doesn't really have a story, but I find that the general setting is what makes it appeal. Magic swords that aren't really swords and can turn into things like bazookas are pretty sweet too.

The night Harry's parents die, the last Soul Reaper Death himself goes to collect Harry's soul only to find that he is not dead, and that he has high spirit energy. Death takes Harry under his protection, and trains him to become a Soul Reaper.

Since reading Nuhuh's fic, I got curious and looked around at FF.net and found this. It's a mild crossover that isn't bad - it's short though, around 20k words.

The manga has more girls than the Naruto series. I guess they do a better job at the romance, while balancing out a good number of blood and gore. The mangaka also draws the characters in a such a way that it appeals to both males and females, thus collecting a larger fanbase.

Yes, that is Riku, only Riku is a lot more badass.
