Some of this chapter was bland first week at Hogwarts fare, but there was some good material in this as well. I rather enjoyed the Quirrell interactions towards the end of the chapter, which bode well for the Quirrellmort interactions with this Harry. There was some interesting magic alluded to, while still feeling in tune with canon.

I continue to be cautiously optimistic about the direction of the school year, although this chapter was rather heavy on unnecessary minutiae of the schoolchild small talk.

 

Interesting take on transfiguration having it’s own language and alphabet. It’s nice to see someone actually put more than just “will power” down for how transfiguration works.

Also, I think Harry got memory charmed when showing Quirrell the Enemy Curse. Just kinda seemed like there was too little explanation for his reaction to Harry’s curse.

 

I had thought the enemy curse was responding to Voldemort within Quirrel

 

This chapter was a really great look at more casual Hogwarts life.

 

This remains one of my favourite Harry Potter fics from the past few years, the author is pretty spot on with Harry's personality and the whimsical worldbuilding is just so fun to read about.

The latest subplot about 'wizard-reading' is something I've never seen before and if it had been written by a shitty author I'd find it absolutely ridiculous but in this I really like it and how it ties in with that squib-girl from earlier chapters. Like how Draco obviously learned how to it the normal way but Goyle and Crabbe weren't taught.

 

I really like this fic, but I can't help but feel that it's incredibly slow pace has become a detriment. In the latest chapter for spoilerific reasons Harry has to try out for the house Quidditch team. An extremely long and detailed section of the chapter tells us everything that happens at the try out and then Harry doesn't get the position he went for.

The fics take on magical theory and how it handles character growth keeps me reading, but it's getting bogged down by a lot of unnecessary filler.

It has been so long since the last update i completely forgot everything.
This is a common problem with some fics that update less than once per year, I not sure if i can justify rereading the entire story just to understand the latest chapter.

 

Very true. I do have hope though. It's hardly been abandoned, and there are older fics of similar length still recieving sporadic updates.

 

Halloween come and past and Harry didn't have to rescue Hermione from a troll.

 

This was a good chapter, its cool seeing how canon would change with Petri around and how competent he is.

 

Yeah, I also really liked it. Petri especially is an interesting character in my opinion. Pretty bad morals but right now he's really helpful.

I'm wondering how much Dumbledore knows. He did send the cloak. Probably knows some sort of trick to get around the Fidelius. I vaguely recall something about it earlier in the story but don't feel like rereading.
