This is a fanon idea.

What everyone seems to be forgetting is that Dumbledore shows up in this scene.

Picture this:

Voldemort is brought back to life. He begins to mock Harry, before killing him. Then Dumbledore bursts in, he sees Tom, a duel ensues, and Voldemort escapes through a portkey.

You can even write it so that Dumbledore recognizes a need to train Harry. With the Dark Lord about there's no hope for a childhood.

 

Ummm, no? Voldemort said himself that he used a mix of Nagini's venom and unicorn blood to make the potion to give him a human form. And I'm pretty sure you can't dunk a spirit into a potion.... Read before calling something fanon.

Now, if there is no philosopher's stone then why would the ritual happen in Hogwarts? Quirrel gets in as a teacher, brings Harry into a room, and Portkeys him to Voldemort. It wouldn't happen as there would most likely be no Nagini but if it did there would be no 'ComingBackFromTheMinistry!Dumbledore to the rescue!!!!!' Harry would die and the fic would be fail.

 

Wtf is your problem? We all have different tastes and if you don't like it go cry.

I'm sorry, I thought you were referring to having a Horcrux nearby in order to revive Voldemort. I apologize.

As for having the ritual at Hogwarts, think of the strategic value. Voldemort thinks that Dumbledore is gone, so he can seize the castle with little resistance.

 

Well considering I haven't wasted time negrepping you that might be why. Feel free to ask the 1 person I have given negrep to - Elfonrum; they'll tell you I did sign it.

 

@Silver Peas- Good thinking. But I think Voldemort might think of a better way to get Dumbledore to leave then 'Hehe. I'll send him a letter and make him think he needs to be at the ministry! I PWN!!!'

@xcel- If you negrep leave a signature. Everytime I rep or negrep I leave ~HBP. If some jackass wants to get into a negrep war because of it then that's my own problem for negrepping him in the first place. Your lucky Kender didn't start his own little negwar for that. I assure you, he'd win.

 

I'd like to acknowledge that kendercleric did leave his signature with his negrep. A negrep I deserved, along with the others that I have recieved.

Also i'd like to apologize to all those who read this thread for wasting their time with my negrepped post. I was overly tired at the time, but that does not excuse my terrible grammer, or my waste of text.

I would like to say, wouldn't the philosophers stone act in place of the ritual that Voldemort used in canon? Or would it just act as a more stable replacement for the uncorn/snake venom mix.

Also, as a final comment I'd like to say that I happen to like the idea of Voldemort giving Harry a silver arm if it was amputated.

 

Having Harry lose an appendage makes for overly emotional and angsty crapfests where Harry does nothing but whine and complain while he tries his best to work with his new bionic-but-highly-magical-and-can-kill-with-a-touch hand. The only fic where I've enjoyed Harry gaining a magical new limb/appendage is Dakaath - and that's only because he guys Draco Malfoy with it >8D.

Also, I don't think the Philosopher's Stone can be used on spirits, because the actual method of sustaining life is via the Elixir of Life - so he'd have to drink it to become immortal (for a period of time), which I believe incorporeal spirits cannot do.

Umm I didn't exactly say he had to have his arm cut off merely mentioned it to impress the seriousness of the situation on harry because the canon version needs the help of futuristic laser surgery to get anything into that head of his. So just give him the cut then.
