Then you should! I personally use Opera since I like how it looks and has much integrated (don't like the whole addon thing of FF). It also blocks out every pop up I´ve ever met (none since I use Opera).
Though I admit that FF can be better because you have so much options for personalising it.

Btw.: Does anybody know how I can block certain images with Opera?

lol, the only thing that is "buried" is my status bar. It has the firefox download counter (nearly 140million woot) fasterfox, that Foxytunes, FF to IE thing, Adblock and Forecastfox.

You just installed it and didn't do anything else? You have to manually choose what to block.
as well as making sure adblock is enabled under the adblock preferences menu.

Here's my exported block list for example.

    Code:
    [Adblock]
    *.adbrite.*
    *.ad.*
    *.ads.*
    *.advertising.*

Where's the 'Hell no! I kill Internet Exploiter! I use my kitchenware on thee!' option?:O_O:

Seriously I'd never go back to IE now, especially now that I've managed to get my adblocker and bugmenot extensions working so nicely...

This is a cut-n-paste of a post I left on a technology site:

Reasons Why I HATE Internet Exploder:

    1) I didn't ask for it. :abduct:

    2) I can't (officially) turn it off.* :mid5

    3) Insists that I use it and only it constantly even though I tell it and other applications I prefer to use NAME OF BROWSER instead.

    4) Is the only application I know of that is a means to its own end. To quote Fred Vorck "Why keep IE just to patch... IE?"

    5) If not being used, takes up hard drive space, user memory, and time (gotta keep it patched)

    6) SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! (I'm just calling it as I see it-- every attempt to run IE with tabs is impossibly slow.)**

    7) Refusal to support common standards and attempts to create its own (non-crossplatform compatible) 'standards'

8 ) Still doesn't fully support *.PNGs... I mean c'mon here, work with me a little!

    9) No one is actually reading number nine.

    10) Not really extendable via extensions.. where are the adblockers and popup blockers? Ummm... free ones d00d?

    11) That &%$# Alexia spyware.

    12) Waitng for the OS to boot? Waiting for your drivers to start? Waiting for the desktop to appear? Noooo, waiting for Microsoft @^&# Internet Explorer to load! *** :mid6

    13) {insert name of &^$*& Toolbar Search here}

    14) Welcome to Dog ####ing %%#$ Sluts, your new drive by homepage. Hope your Mom's not visiting you today...

    15) Did I mention the wonderful security features yet? Well now you know why!

    16) Temporary Internet Files. Don't laugh, that's what its called. No really its supposed to be temporary!

    17) Dear Mr. or MS, we have found a way to reveal the contents of your harddrive... Buy our new Internet security software to prevent this from happening again! [Web page with a 'explorer view' of the users harddrive]

    18) There is no number eighteen. For details reread number nine.

    19) This page will only work with Microsoft Internet Explorer version X.X, please download Internet Explorer here: :chainsaw:

    20) Encouraging millions of ##### coders to write bloatware using the MSHTML 'engine' thus creating a new dependancy... a web browser needed to be able to defrag your harddrive! WTF!! :wall:

.... I could go on if you'd like? Obviously I'm not much of an IE fan am I? That said I actually like the Windows Explorer-- I like it so much that up until recently I used to pine for it during my forrays into Linux. Now that Ubuntu is using their version of the spatial browser I'm finding that less and less though.

--bornagainpenguin (who has strong feelings on this subject... no really! ^^: )

    * Do a google for nLite, an application that will allow you to install Windows 2k\XP\2k3 without IE or other objectionable components. Also checkout XPLite (but only if you want an advanced add and remove for Windows system components and send your money to Shane Brooks) but it only does its work post install.

**In my experience Firefox just screams on websites. I used to push Opera for its speed. Now I push Firefox instead although that's mostly because coupled with a nice hosts file (works with IE too I know) and the adblock + flashblock extensions Firefox manages to own Opera and IE on dialup. My Mom's never been happier.

Now as for the IE always in RAM issue. ....Heh isn't it a real kick in the nuts that Firefox is still faster than IE despite Microsoft 'cheating' by making IE load in memory while the system starts? And it still isn't as fast? This just kills me!:rrou:

***Look at some of the work Fred Vorck has done (granted his work is based mostly in Windows 20000) you'd see he says you can get even that one minute down to almost nothing if you remove the IE engine from Windows. It's the browser loading in the background that takes so damn long! Despite all the lies Microsoft has continued to spew about the browser being an essensial part of the system the fact is its an application running at boot time.

    *bows*

Thanks. I'm one of 'those guys' who were ripping IE out of Windows back when 98Lite was in version 2.0 --I got to see first hand what a huge difference it made!

    ---bornagainpenguin

PS: For anyone who goes searching I posted this under an older username that I'm trying to (eventually) move away from. But I did actually sit down and type all of that up, I didn't take it from anyone else.

    Ehh? Win95 you say??

:O_O: Are you trying to tell me you're using Win95? :O_O:

    :wall: Why? :rrou:

Besides the performance boost on certain older games or the impact a higher level system can have on an older PC I mean?

    Re: Ehh? Win95 you say??

    Right now I'm using a Windows 98.

My damn XP comp fucked up on me, so I'm stuck using this piece of shit until I can get a new one when I go to college. Just five more months, just five more months, just five more months...
