Fucking epic. Those last two scenes were the most perfect ones in comedy history.

Looking at the trailers, it seemed like complete fail - much like Borat only crappier and less funny.

On the other side, a few people that I know enjoyed it - is it worth watching the movie if you didn't really like Borat?

Yeah, but a word of advice - do not go, under any circumstances if you are in any way a homophobe.

Havn't liked anything by Cohen since Ali G, and even that was barely above mediocre. That being said, Brüno simply follows the same declining trend.

Dude, this movie completely sucked. There were funny moments here and there, but for the most part it was just retarded (not to mention disgusting and gay).

What, exactly, did you expect from a movie with such blatant advertisement?

If you're that disgusted by gay people, why the fuck did you go in the first place? Evidently, you don't have enough common fucking sense to realize that a satirical movie about a homosexuals is going to have a homosexual in it.

The mental image I now have of you:

That's really not what I meant. I have no problem with homosexual people. What disgusted me was the buttsex. I've never seen any of Cohen's other movies, and when my friend asked me to see Bruno with her I didn't really know what to expect. So, I was kinda unprepared for having the entire bigscreen be taken up by a closeup of male genitalia, or for Bruno's creative buttsecks with his filipino flight attendant lover. Also, the jokes were for the most part not funny, and the funny moments really weren't enough to redeem the movie.

I thought it was good but it had obviously scripted parts compared to borat and ali g who just improvised all but one or two scenes. It was worth the money but I wouldn't watch it again if I had the choice.

Lol, Vengashii you're literally the first person I've heard that actually liked Bruno. All people have told me is that there were dicks everywhere, and it wasn't funny anyways.

    Thar be spoilars ahead, yar.

The Talk Show skit was pretty good. First he shows that they're homophobic, and then once he's done that he decides to be absurd -- which is less funny (but still devastatingly effective if you remember that the photoshopped pictures are all things baby-model parents agreed to have their 2 year old's do).

The skit with Paula Abdul was similarly epic. Bitch sat on Mexicans while talking about philanthropy and human rights.

In the end where he got people to chant "Straight Pride" (these were the same people who would have chanted "White Pride" 50 years ago) was hilarious too. All in all, it was funny . . . I laughed the whole way through. With that said, if teh ghey or teh cock or teh buttsecks squick you out this probably isn't the film for you.

    4/5

  12. I really enjoyed Bruno, Giovanni covered the best parts, but if anything, it's worth it to see the song at the end where he sings with Bono from U2, Elton John, Snoop Dogg, Chris Martin from Coldplay, Sting from The Police and Slash from Velvet Revolver, that was just great.

I really liked it. Maybe it wasn't as good as Borat, but it was still awesome. And I laughed especially hard when he asked how to defend from a man with two dildos :)

The previously mentioned parts, the "carbocide", and the lady who agreed to have her baby undergo lyposuction if necessary were all great. Could have done with less dicks, but that scene with the screening group for the tv show was made of win.

Some of the moments were comedy gold, and there were a few where I was like eh.

All in all, I'd give the movie a 4/5. I still prefer Borat though.

I didn't even watch it long enough to get to the male genitalia because I got too bored at the start and closed the window. I'm sure the latter part may be funny, but the beginning just bored me out of my mind.

    Watching it now.

This is the third time I've tried to watch it, the first two times I only got about 5 to 10 minutes in. But I'm pretty drunk right now, and it's suddenly pretty funny. So, this seems like a good movie to watch while pissed/high/etc. , but not a good movie overall.

    Saw it. Much preferred Borat.

Bruno just seemed like it was trying way too hard. As somebody already said, its heavily scripted scenes just stood way out. By the way, the talk show was faked as it hasn't been made for a while; it must have been a special 'revival' just for the movie. I disliked the 'story' and its completely overblown amount of screentime.

    All in all, I liked:

the Paula Abdul scene, even though it was very poorly handled and they blew it before it really could get underway.

the interviews with the parents for the modeling, even though I have some doubts as to its actual occurrence.

the ever so brief interview with the model at the start of the show.

    the ending song.

I disliked the aforementioned scripted shit, annoying usage of 'funny' gay sex to fill up loads of time, the army scene where he was just being a prick (as far as I can tell, acting an undisciplined gay asshole pretty much just boiled down to him just being an asshole), and the camping scene.

That swingers party actually looked like a bit of fun. Also, if I could only remember one scene of the movie, it would be that dude's face at the wrestling match. You know, the dude who went from a happy, smiling baby face to a shocked, raging baby face.
