So a bit of a random question but does anyone have any recommendations for books that have a similar kind of setting and style to destiny? I find I really like this idea of a future mankind pushed to the edge and trying to reclaim its future and fighting against pretty much impossible odds.

Glass Needle stuff from Xur is gonna be pretty cool. I have a few terribly-rolled 310 exotics that I haven't wanted to infuse. It's sad that they nerfed the SC (and weapon part!) drop rate though. I really don't think the old drop rate was broken.

 

I got completely fucked by the raid this week. I finished it just now. All 3 chests, Warpriest, Golgoroth AND Deathsingers gave me nothing beyond Mouldering Shards and Wormspores. That's it. Nothing else.

Oryx dropped a 300 helmet (as low as it gets) and a 307 Pulse Rifle.

My brain is so full of cancer right now. Holy fuck. If I had a bungie exec who thought of the possibility of getting nothing but shards and thought "Sounds cool" I would literally punch him the face right now.

This is not how you make your game long-lasting, Bungie. This is pure bullshit.

On other news, refrain from doing the Nightfall today. Supposedly there'll be a hotfix tomorrow to make Nightfall rewards better.

Yeah I'm with you on being frustrated by the raid drops Republic. I've been running King's Fall on 3 characters since it dropped and I've had more runs like that than I can count. I'll probably just be running hard mode once it comes out on Friday. I'm hoping running that first and getting 2 pulls from the hard mode loot pool will be better.

And yeah don't run any nightfalls until the path drops today. 1pm eastern is when it is supposed to hit.

Haven't tried the new nightfalls yet but there is a new quest if you got the Future War Cult ghost from the alternate Paradox ending the last time that mission was the daily. You have to kill a taken Minotaur then kill Atheon, then find a chest on a solo mission on the Twilight Gap crucible map, then kill a Vex boss in the Black Garden and you get the No Time to Explain exotic pulse rifle. It comes with full auto and a perk that returns all precision hits directly to your magazine. Its pretty nice. You'll probably want a 3 man team for the last mission. You will never see more Minotaurs in your life

 

Apparently if I wanted the No Time to Explain I should have done the Paradox two weeks ago. It's 'time gated' or some stupid shit like that, and I'll have to wait now.

Do you actually have to do VoG? Or is it a budget/ solo quest version?

Is the daily heroic Paradox stuff easily soloable? Does death affect anything?

Btw, the damage reduction Radiance super for Warlocks affects ToM self-damage. Tested it while fighting a Taken Ultra last night and I could pretty much fire nonstop during the super.

I need a DoY and a recovery build, but by god, I'm gonna make this gun viable!

If you die during the Paradox mission in a Darkness zone you have to do it again from the beginning. It's easily solo-able up until the final fight against the dozens of re-spawning taken enemies and the gigantic taken gatelord.

Heh. Speaking of terrible but fun ToM builds, a Titan (preferably with Saint-14 helmet) pops the bubble with Armor of Light over the boss, and proceeds to go ham with the ToM on the boss.

Interesting article on Destiny that really seems to explain a lot of the issues I had with the game and its rather lackluster attempt to deliver on the promises made by Bungie.

According to (anonymous) sources within Bungie the entire developed storyline was shot down less than a year before it was due to release and then the base game was stitched together from the story missions, models, and environments that had been made for the game in mind with a radically different design philosophy - to the point that the Dreadnought from The Taken King and most of the assets from the DLC released so far is still entirely based on assets and plans made before the game even shipped.

Really seems to fill in a lot of the gaps on how all over the place the game was on release - with extremely polished shooting mechanics while having an insulting low level of storytelling and haphazard mission/encounter design.

 

Hard Mode looks really sweet and really tough. I'm going to attempt it today, will edit with news. Wish me luck.

So, Hard Mode is the shit. Unlike Crota (which simply dialed all enemies up several levels) there were extra mechanics that made the fights (and some of the platforming) more challenging but not impossible. It felt like a completely novel experience.

I got a 313 Harrowed DoY, a pair of 314 boots and a 312 class item. I didn't even finish it, as I got tired after like 30 mins at Oryx and decided to stop for today.

Sad thing is, Light level is super important. A good team can carry someone below 310 until Oryx, but no further. Damage taken and dealt is super important, and the time margins by which to deal it are much more narrow.

Oryx Hard Mode is great. It requires very high Light Level, incredible levels of communication and teamwork.
